Re: TOS+ Newsletter August 16th 2009

The First Campaign is just that. We're the first Play by Post that admin agreed to allow on a trial basis. My players and I were able to try out The Only Sheet - and Later, TOS+ in an actual game setting. Noting bugs and making suggestions for improvements based on how people will use the sheet - to...

Vulan lies pitifully still awaiting discovery. His soul hovers overhead a moment or ten cheering you all for your victory. Then passes on to other travels.

Vulan - feeling the light as he bleeds away snores a little as his dream takes on a rather lovely and peaceful feeling. He's killed D5, and the Khunmonster has come to life and attacks him. He isn't at all worried, as he draws his sword and slices it down in two slashes leaving the thing in three us...

Vulan lies on the ground with his Khun and dreams of firing another shot at D5 - this time taking him down and protecting all of his friends from the giant Khunmonster.

Actually, Skate only aids you going downhill (it grants an enhancement bonus to speed, not an unnamed bonus, so it doesn't stack with your monk speed increase). I think that it is unfortunate that it works like that, though :(. You, another willing creature, or an unattended object can slide along ...

You chose a good issue - August will be the last time either of those magazines is printed as Paizo Publishing lost their rights from WoTC. (Apparently they're going for a more on-line approach). But I figure that August will be a magazine that lots of people buy - since it'll be the last one.

Wasn't sure how to figure it. If 160 ft per round is what you use, it should take Esias three rounds to reach 3820. Yeah 3820 - that would be about .72 of a mile in six seconds. Now, I've heard of a few people who've beaten the one minute mile - and with magical aid or some extraordinary ability......

Vulan curses under his breath - I'm tried of getting burned! And unloads a spray into D5s area (if he gets D4 with anything that misses D5 so much the better.)

Your map looks fine. Vulan will take his time getting into position, but knowing that armored as he is, he's very likely to be spotted, he's less worried about it. He waits till Thanis is in position before moving too close - so he won't give the other away if he is spotted, then gets himself into p...

Vulan simply sighs again and shakes his head. Clearly there is no getting through to him he even denies leading this group when it was his choice to bring us into this by killing the dudes. "If our battle is done, we may speak - if we are to battle again - I would have witnesses to your actions."

(Assuming Oldin confirms that this is just a talk, or even gives lip service to such - Vulan will walk off with him, one hand resting on the pommel of his sword... just in case.)

Or outraged that you think his aim is THAT BAD inside 30 feet. Well, Oldin does not think in game mechanics. In real world mechanics, if a bullet from the burst misses, it will continue on its trajectory. It will not disappear because it missed. If someone is in a similar line of fire, you hit some...

If Oldin sees Vulan reach for the kuhn, he immediately fires off a fiery burst aimed at Vulan's eyes. He is not trying to harm Vulan (although he wouldn't mind if he did). He is only trying to disorient Vulan long enough for the onlookers to have a chance to drop for cover. Oldin shouts, "EVER...

"All you had to do was take your lumps for that cheap shot. You burn me, I burn you - but I won't be using fire!"

Depending on initiative Vulan unloads a burst with the Khun and closes the distance.

Or if Oldin goes first - he closes the distance then unloads a burst with the Khun.

I'll throw in an opinion and provide some out of character knowledge. I happen to think both characters are acting their alignment (lawful stubborn). Also, if Oldin were a cleric and this were the world you know, as a DM I would still have allowed the spell to go off, even though Seker would not ap...

You mention in the other thread that Oldin must learn humility. In all honesty, at the first mention of Oldin's actions, Oldin took it on the chin, accepting that Vulan felt the way he did. When Vulan continued, Oldin began rejecting Vulan's repeated accusations. As Vulan continued even more, Oldin...

Killing a man who wishes you harm is self-defense, not cowardice. It would prove nothing only that Oldin is a smart man who was not insane, and would not attempt the same tactic multiple times knowing that it would only lead to failure. You're making the assumption that Vulan wants Oldin dead. He d...

Oldin is a proud man, and not very skilled in combat. Vulan has insulted him one time too many. This is his end, and I know it, but I cannot see him travelling with Vulan anymore. Vulan couldn't take an AoO the first time because you weren't within range. You cast from more than 5' away.
