Mak ventures down the flight and looks past the corner, making sure not to expose himself. He finds another closed door.

Mak will check the door for traps. If none are found, he will try to listen for noises on the other side. If no noise, he will open the door AFTER his companions are in place!

Mak examines the door and sees nothing suggesting it trapped. He presses an ear to it and listens. His focus is intense. He can hear on the other side the sloshing of water, but nothing else. It sounds to him as though there may be a tidal pool as the door seems to pull and push in rhythm to the sloshing. He waits for his team to take position.
OUT OF CHARACTER
I know Mak is in the lead with Durmisht right behind. I think then would be Carter with Vi following and then Yiri and Ryder as rear guard. Or would Carter still continue to watch the other door? I believe just hearing water sloshing wouldn't keep Mak from opening the door, so I think I'm just wanting to know which Carter sees as priority.

Carter will remain watching the other hallway until he hears any sign of fighting from where Mak is opening doors, then follow on his action.[/ooc]

Carter holds his position keeping watch on the other door and Ryder holds up the rear. Mak opens the door and sure enough he sees a tidal pool in the room. From his position, he sees little more.

Mak enters the room. The sound of sloshing water fills this room, which has nearly collapsed entirely into a large tide pool. What few walls do remain intact here bear detailed and impressive carvings of incredible treasuries filled to overflowing with coins, gems, jewelry, and other items of value. To the east, the walls depict a carving of a towering mountain, its peak carved in the shape of a stern face just above a great palace. Below, the side of the mountain’s valley cradles an immense city of spires.
In the pool, the remains of what must have once been an incredible treasury lie in the sloshing waters. Shattered urns, crumbled stone chests, rusted bits of once beautiful armor and weapons, and other long-ruined treasures from an ancient past lie below. Most impressive of them all is a large, coral-encrusted helmet sized for a giant; the helm measures nearly five feet across, and its full-face guard bears an expression of twisted rage and fangs. The helm itself appears to be made of gold.

[ooc]The water along the edge is not deep, maybe up to your ankles. It's closer to the dark blue spot on the map that the water plunges. This is also where the helmet is located at.

Also, I forgot all about lighting. Currently anyone without a light source at hand is in the dark. Ryder, Carter, and Yiri can't see much unless they have other means of seeing. For Ryder and Cater, only having darkvision or another means of light will help. That door Carter was watching is no longer visible.[/ooc]

Carter Jenkins mutters a few words before reaching out to touch the corner of the wall. The spot where he touched gradually starts to glow until both corridors are illuminated. Ryder and Storm hold up the rear guard, now able to see with Carter's light. Mak takes another step forward. Mak steps into the water with one foot and at the center of the pool bubbles begin to rise, first one, then four. Durmisht stays close to Mak as he moves further into the room, keeping his eyes open for danger. Hearing Mak whisper about a trap, Vi can't resist moving down the stairs to S5 so that she will be more easily subject to it... Yiri follows Vi, wondering what sinister surprise the room might hold.
The sound of metal grinding on metal fills the room and the surrounding halls. You all can hear as something big begins to move. The pool of water begins to swell and animate as the helmet turns to face Mak. The helmet begins to rise from the water, soaking Mak and Durmisht in the process.[ae]

Carter holds his ground for now protecting the party's rear. Hearing the commotion Ryder will rush up to P5, which is as far as he can really get in the crowded corridor, to try and aid his allies in whatever challenge has presented itself. [talk]What the heck is that supposed to be!?[/talk] Mak says, confused by the sight of a 'moving helmet'. He withdraws along the edge of the water toward M7. Durmisht stays put as the helmet fully breaches the water. He knows he won't get by without being attacked. Vi attempts to identify the object, but when she sees two large pincers extend from the eyelets of the helmet, she finds herself a bit confused, but only for a while. Yiri realizes Durmisht is still not in very good shape and at the first opportunity will approach him and cast her second Cure Mod of the day and helps restore Durmisht to a more combat worthy condition.
The helmet finally rises above the water and the pincers follow Mak as he manages to pass by it before the creature is able to strike out at him. but blocks Durmisht from following. With Mak out of reach, the crab turns to Durmisht and strikes out. The two pincers reach out for Durmisht, but the creature clearly does not have reach..
From Mak's new position, he sees a door in the south wall, where he recalls the other hall terminating at.
