LoF: The Carrion King; Below the Old Monastery

The wishes unleashed over the ages by two genies have warped the Pale Mountain region to keep alive both a terrible beast and a heroic protector. These wishes have subtly warped the weave of the world to put a handful of adventurers on a trail to Kelmarane. It is these adventurers who will tread the path of fate at its most treacherous juncture, and it is they who will ultimately chart the course of history.

Simi moves to AH15 and Attacks Slime #2, using Ox as a distraction. (Flanking)

Round 1
  1. Initiative:
  2. Laron Jilliet
  3. Ox
  4. Hrashin
  5. Kroft Gypsum
  6. Simi
  7. Erin Ookapala
  8. Dashki
  9. Slime Mold
Benji wrote:Laron, cursing at the sudden turn of events, moves to AF15, leaving Katja where she is.

He then tries to attack the mold with his scimitar.

Attack;Damage (1d20=19, 1d6=6)
Laron strikes at the ugly goo with his scimitar, but does not do as much damage as could have been done. (SM2 -3hp)
admin wrote:Moving to AF15, Ox takes a swipe at the slime
Attack vs Slime (1d20+4=11, 2d6+4=12)
With Laron being where Ox was looking to go, and the table leaving not much room to fight effectively, Ox contemplates a different strategy.
larenee wrote:A curse can be heard from Kroft as he twists away from the attack. Now we know what's not right about this place. Though he expects his thin blade to have little effect on the creature, he still slashes out at it.
Attack Slime (1d20+4=10, 1d6+2=3)
He then backs away from the thing a bit, moving toward the stairs (to AJ14).
Kroft attacks the mucky muck but doesn't really seem to do muck to it. (SM1 -1hp)
When Kroft tries to back away the slime sloshes forward. Slam Opp Attack/Damage vs Kroft (1d20-3=1) He succeeds in backing away unscathed.
tdsprouse wrote:Simi moves to AH15 and Attacks Slime #2, using Ox as a distraction. (Flanking)

Attack w/ Flank and Damage (1d20+8=16, 1d8+3=10)
Though there is no flank for Simi (not that there would have been anyhow), Simi does still manage to hit the slime. (SM2 -5hp)
Arpat wrote:Erin looks puzzled...

Erin Seems unsure what to do with this goop.

Dashki moves to attack with scimitar in hand. Attack/Damage vs SM1 (1d20+3=19, 1d6+2=3) Dashki hits the goop, but it's almost like attacking thickened water. (SM1 -1hp)

Current Damage:
SM1 -2
SM2 -5

Ox may opt for a new action for round 1. I'll wait before posting the actions for the slime molds.

Yes, I forgot that Simi opened that square moving to a table that leaves less than half a square that cannot be moved into. As I said that Ox could not move there due to lack of room, neither can Simi, so either Simi is moving to AH16 and then you move to AG15, or Ox does something else. Here is what the current map looks like.

Ox moves in and attacks the mold. His stroke slices through the liquid with ease, as it should be with liquid. (SM2 -6hp)

Both molds move 5' to a nearby drain and disappear from sight under the floor. As you look around, you note that the floor is riddled with drains. As SM2 drains away, you do note that not very much of it left, leaving behind a fast crusting mess.

You don't see the molds any longer, but in addition to the drain, you see a few pipes rising from the floor along the walls and into the ceiling. From the drains, you can hear the sloughing echo throughout. It's like they are in every drain, moving about.

Anyone remember seeing any of this stuff anywhere else in this place? I still wish we had some idea what was done here. If we intend to camp in this building, you folks think we should try to plug up the drains in here?

I dont think that would do any good, these pipes run into the ceiling, so we'd need to find all the open drains in the whole place.

Can we flood the pipes with anything that will kill them, but not do much damage to the pipes themselves?

I doubt we have enough of anything that would do the trick. I am now concerned with where those drains lead; I hope there aren't any outlets on the upper floor.

I don't think we should be overly concerned with this Mold - it appears to live in the pipes, and I suspect that if we don't disturb it, it won't disturb us. So let's proceed with the investigation of this place Ox suggests.

look for holes in the cieling, if they drop down on us...
Erin moves back to the entrance not wanted to be caught by sniffeling dripping stinky slime ooze. There she will check her inventory to find something flamable.

All right, enough wasted time. Let's check these stairs in the west wall. We'll deal with these Molds as they come up. Ox says, moves in that direction expecting his party to fall in marching order.

Guys can you check these stairs for Traps?? He asks of the two rogues to give them something to check

Erin moves to the stairs and starts checking the stairs for traps... staying out of the way of the ooze...
i check for traps on the stairs... to make sure we can move away and will not get attacked from there..
it seems to me that slicing the ooze isn't helping. try burning it instead...

i currently have no access to a excel sheet so i can't see how well i can search for traps...

Re: LoF: The Carrion King; Below the Old Monastery

At the last wisps of mist dissipate, Ox suddenly stands very straight...
WAIT... he says. Those standing close to him might see the goosebumps blossoming all over his skin...

We missed something... COME everyone he says, clearly a command not to be ignored from the big half-Orc.

Ox makes his way back to the courtyard above, expecting everyone to follow.

Once he arrives he... (pending knowledge of who has followed, and who has ignored him)

Ox heads up the mold and mushroom caked stairs without concern and is soon out of sight.

OUT OF CHARACTER
Waiting to see who follows Ox.
