[ENDED][Arena][admin]: Horris vs Black Knight*

Post by admin » Tue Sep 29, 2009 12:19 pm

Greetings, Arena fans! Welcome to another highly anticipated, but probably short, duel opposing Horris Veldratz and The Black Knight, who is back from that quick victory against Bone - will he be able to hold his OWN against Horris?! Many have heard rumors that Horris has had special training - from some unknown sensei! speaks the announcer's voice, booming through the bleachers. The gladiators, however, can only hear the roar of the crowd, as the sounds that are allowed to reach the pit have been magically filtered to reject any information that could influence gladiator actions.
OUT OF CHARACTER
I need Initiative rolls and actions from both of you, please. Starting positions were decided at random, as per the map description: Starting positions in the Arena: Horris vs Black Knight (1d12=1, 1d12=10)
H: Horris Veldratz
BK: The Black Knight

Horris Initiative (1d20+3=13) Just to please Richard. No, because of his I lose my previously valid attack and am forced into a new attack.

Horris Ranged Attack/Damage vs BK (1d20+4=13, 1d8+1=9)
Thanks for nothing Richard. I had a hit before, and now you give me a miss.

Your first attack was fine by me and I fail to see why it would not be. It will be used instead of the second one.

You cannot 'drag' a guisarme, nor "attach" it in whatever manner you seem to imply; You need at least one hand to carry it around.
Your action states that you move to J13 to fire your bow. If you do so, then you are obviously not holding you guisarme anymore (a bow required 2 FREE hands to use). Is this what you wish to do? Drop the guisarme as a free action? If not, please re-state your action for round #1 (no change in dice roll are required)

Weapon that do not fit in a scabbard, or that can be slung over one's shoulders need at least one hand to hold onto. The Wiki now clarifies this.

For round one, I dragged my guisarme to where I am, then fired my bow, dropping the guisarme as a free action. This is the simplest way/one that requires the less work.

For round two, using combat expertise (-1 attack; +1 AC) I fire another arrow.

Round #1

And they are going at it! The Black Night moves forward and drops his long reach weapon, quickly taking his bow to fire at Horris. Unfortunately, the shot is wide and misses Horris by a feet. The announcer says, following every details of the battle.

Oh! Look at that folks! Horris has taken his own bow, and his own shot hit the Mark! We have first blood for Horris folks! Some of the crowd 'boos' as they realize they lost their first-blood wager.

I'm counting B2,B3,C4,C5,D6,D7
Or am I mistaken? That seems to be 30'. Next time I'll specify the square by square move since normally moves are the most direct route. From B2-D4-D7 would have been the most direct and 35', but that's not my move.

As stated in PM, I'm aware of the rules for movement. If you're saying I'm at D6 by meaning the only way to move is in an absolute direct path, then fine, I'm at D6. However, I'm not moving diagonally in succession, so the 1,2,1 rule should not apply. I've seen indirect movement many times before in game, but again, whatever. I should be able to move in whatever fashion I can, but whatever. Just put me at wherever you feel according to my movement. I'm either at D6 or D7, should be D7, but whatever.
Ranged Attack/Damage (1d20+4=13, 1d8+1=4)
Did I say whatever? I think I said whatever. So, it's not that important, and I'm not a stickler for the rules like others are, but I'll remember to keep the absolute rules in mind in the future. Again, let me remind you of how unimportant which square I end up in is... Whatever.

I'm not being offensive, BTW. Just thought I'd make a point to make that clear. Nor am I trying to give anyone a hard time. It's just that I really don't care which square I end up it.

My lack of attention missed the fact that he actually moved and such, would never have taken a ranged attack. it's just stupid. but alas it is as it not likely to be reversed.
