Re: PowerRongeur - Order of Valor School
For ease of reference, here are the rules for tripping:
Trip - http://www.d20srd.org/srd/combat/specia ... s.htm#trip
Trip is a touch attack.
If you hit, there is an opposed str roll (for the one who trips) vs str or dex (for the one who is tripped)
Opposed Rolls - http://www.d20srd.org/srd/skills/usingS ... osedChecks
The important thing to remember is that the highest modifier wins in case of a tie.
The Improved trip feat - http://www.d20srd.org/srd/feats.htm#improvedTrip
The feat gives a +4 on the trip attempt but more importantly, it gives a free attack if you manage to trip.
Prone - http://www.d20srd.org/srd/conditionSummary.htm#prone
A character who is tripped end up prone.
A prone character gets -4 to his melee attack while prone. He also get -4 to his AC against melee attack.
Getting up provokes an attack of opportunity.
Note that a trip attempt usually provokes an attack of opportunity. The Improved trip feat removes that attack of opportunity. Using a melee weapon also removes that attack of opportunity.
