Question: Does a gladiator starts being psionically focused or must he roll during his first round to become focused?
Reading the rules, I would be inclined to say he starts focused since he can do it at anytime of the day.

Re: psionic focus
Judging from the fact that spellcasters will have spells removed, there is evidence that any focus could be lost in the process, thus equalizing psionics a little by forcing a psionics user to focus at the start of a combat. I would rule that they start unfocused. At least, that is my vote

Bu what I read here, and the fact that in the rules it's clear that you are subject to a disruptor that removes all magical effect, psionic included, no, you cannot enter a match already focused.Expanded Psionics Handbook p.37 wrote:Gain Psionic Focus: Merely holding a reservoir of psionic power points in mind gives psionic characters a special energy. Psionic characters can put that energy to work without actually paying a power points cost - they can become psionically focused as a special use of the Concentration skill.
If you have 1 or more power points available, you can meditate to become focused. The DC is 20 to become focused. Meditating is a full-round action that provokes AoO.

Re: psionic focus
Based on shai's post, who seems to have snuck (is this a word?) in under stealth mode that I failed in detecting, and the fact that mine is along the same line, the ruling here seems to be e clear NO.
Re: psionic focus
Consider the Gladiator sent to his starting position via special version of a SPELL teleport/dimension door - all magical spell effects on him are removed AND he's a bit confused just before he plays
I agree with shai/Duni
