If you are experiencing problems with the new Chat system, perhaps it is because you do not have the latest FREE Java Runtime!!!

Consider updating your version: http://www.java.com/en/

I noticed some people logged in the chat, then timed out... Are you having issues? the Requirements for the chat client is:
* Client-Side:
o Enabled JavaScript
o Enabled Cookies
o Flash Plugin >= 9 (optional)

The client-side logic is written in JavaScript.

This page will help you determine if you have the latest version of Javascript, and where to download it if you have an older one.

Today marks the first week that the new Chat system has been added - and so far, I am totally happy with it!
Not only it works very well (unless you retain an old version of Java), but many people have been using it, specially to help out in their PbP games!!!

Like I said above, if you experience problems, update your Java! and come visit us!

The Chat has a /roll command which allows you to roll one (or more) die - like this:
/roll 2d6
/roll 1d100

I coded the ability to add a modifier to this, so that you can now do this:
/roll 2d6+3
/roll 1d100+50

Cheers!

I expanded the /roll function of the Chat some more, to support penalties.

For instance, you can now:

/roll 1d20-2
/roll 2d6-1

Cheers!

I think I forgot to mention this...

When you are in the Forum index (the main page of the forum), at the bottom you can actually see WHO is currently in Chat.

For example:
Registered users: admin*, Dagon, larenee*, laurefindel, marine7312000*, OverSeer, Phoenix512*, vertigo106, Yahoo [Bot]

In the line above, all users who have a star (*) following their nickname ARE currently in the Chat module!!
Also note that the COLOR of the nickname actually has meaning, as explained at the bottom of the index page - Basically, people in blue are active Subscribers, while people in gray are not.

A few words about Chat courtesy ...
PLEASE, when you intentionally leave Chat (after saying goodbye!), use the LOGOUT button found in the upper left....!

If you do not use the LOGOUT button, then you will eventually 'timeout' of the Chat system - while others think you are still connected (and they might still be talking to you, thus wasting their time...)

Thanks!
