After dragging herself back to her feet, Kyra shouts back, [yell]A bit hurt, but okay. Watch that first step.[/yell]

She decides to wait to see if anyone else takes a similar fall before doing any healing.

Valeros, lightens his load by removing his chainmail and and bundles it with his pack. Keeping his combat gear he lowers his gear ahead of his decent with his silk rope. After his gear reaches the bottom he turns to Ezren handing him the end of the silk rope......[talk]Hold on to this. Once I'm down I'll loosen the other end so you can lower your gear[/talk] Valeros turns and makes his decent on the hemp rope.

Valeros carefully navigates the slope even though the gorge if engulfed in the darkness of the night.
He then unties the silk rope, freeing his equipment.

Looking around, he notices that the bottom of the gorge would actually make a pretty decent campsite, as any campfire light would not travel far, and visibility is not blocked by tress and bush. The hill side itself would make excellent walls, prohibiting any easy approach to them, while the big rock over there would make an excellent guard post...

Ezren takes the silk rope, with a nod watches valeros go down the rope. Ezren waits for the gear to be undone at the bottom to do the same for his small tent and firewood to lighten his load. Ezren then starts the same descend down the gorge. [talk]Even with a lighter load, I am NOT dexterous. This actually will be a challenge for me, but it must be done.[/talk]

Without more than a few little slips, Ezren slowly navigates downhill and finds himself at the bottom with Kyra and Valeros. Now, only Merisiel is left at the top. The sun has set and the night is upon the small party. Thankfully, Merisiel vision is better adapted to the lighting conditions

While waiting for Merisiel to decend Valeros comments to Kyra & Ezren.....[talk]Since it dark, we may want to set up camp here. During my decent this looked to be a very defensible site to spend night, with the high walls to block our fires light and this rock here would make an excellent guard post...[/talk]

After yelling up to Merisiel, wondering if everything is alright up there, looks back to Valeros speaking [talk]That is actually a good idea, since it is getting a little bit cold too. Maybe Merisiel seeing the campfire will motivate her to come down soon.[/talk]

[ooc]Sorry guys. Skyrim has been eating up my life :([/ooc]

Merisiel, seeing Kyra fall, deliberately waited until last. After Ezren and Valeros managed it without too much trouble, she decides that she won't be outdone by them and makes her own way down.

[ooc]If taking 10 is possible, she'll do that, giving her a result of 19. Otherwise...[/ooc]

Merisiel makes her way to the bottom, not without a few little slips.
You are all at the bottom of the gorge. The sun has set and it is now dark. The rain has stopped but the sky remains overcast. The the air is quite cool, but quiet.

[ooc]Do you setup camp here, or continue to the Crypt?[/ooc]

Ezren looking at the rest of the group while Merisiel was climbing down and gathering the wood to put together for a campfire [talk]We're not going into the crypt at night are we? But then again we could explore a little and then come back to rest in case we should run into any problems in getting the light. That way we could make the rest useful, should we need healing and spells.[/talk]

Slightly embarrassed that everyone made it down the hill both more intelligently and more successfully than she did, Kyra casts cure light wounds on herself to deal with the bruises. She mutters, [talk]This does seem like a defensible place to make camp. If you people want to explore a bit more before resting, that's fine, but really I'd prefer to get out of the rain and wait for daylight.[/talk]

Valeros listens to Kyra & Ezren discuss setting up camp and exploring, but is busy unpacking the tents and retriveing his silk rope and repacking his pack. [talk]Merisiel, great job coming down that cliff in the dark. I dare say none of us could of done better. Why don't you come give me a hand setting up some of our tents, and then maybe we can do as Ezren suggests, explore this raven a little bit, there could be tresure to be had from other fallen explores who where not as good as we are[/talk]

Merisiel sighs audibly with relief when she hears that they're setting up camp. She eagerly helps setting up the tents.

Your small party sets up camp at the bottom of the Serpent Gorge then explore the surroundings. The gorge is aptly named, as you cannot see very far in either directions. It also makes for a good camping spot, as the steel inclines on both sides would make it practically impossible to surprised, while the mostly open ground at the bottom makes for easy spotting.

You prepare your dinner with a small campfire - the light of which can't be seen very far.
With the tents setup, you prepare for sleep, using your standard guard duty.

This spot was indeed practical, as nothing has disturbed your sleep during the night.
in the morning, you prepare breakfast under another cloudy day. Fortunately, the rain does not accompany you, allowing you to stow away your tents mostly dry.

Ezren while eating looks at the trail map again [talk]I thought the crypt was here at the bottom of the gorge, but looks as if it is partway up on the other side of it. We should make it there before nightfall.[/talk]

[ooc]Should we subtract food and firewood?[/ooc]

Clouds still accompany you as you start out for the Crypt on this cool morning. But with your night's rest and your bellies full, you don't mind much the lack of direct sunlight.

Navigating the Gorge is indeed like following a twisting and turning road.
Perhaps less then half an hour after starting out, you come upon...
