Basement of the Abbey

You and your newfound companions have been contracted to investigate Slip Gallows Abbey, the past headquarters of the late (and unlamented) Gray Deacons. Over forty years ago, all of the Gray Deacons were claimed by an unknown curse and their headquarters sealed by the same magic. Your employer has learned of a way inside and has hired your group of adventurers to slip inside and claim the treasure of the Gray Deacons

Quietly, Kasidra moves up to the door to peek in both directions and try to get a sense of things. [whisper]I too do not believe it would be wise to leave an unknown at our back. Unfortunately that could be said for both directions. It might be wise to check the door to the south and the corridor as well while keeping a rear guard.[/whisper]

The party quietly debates which way to proceed after Garoth describes what he sees. Most seem to feel that exploring to the south would be prudent before going to the stairs. Kasidra moves to the doorway and studies both directions in order to provide some guidance.

Nothing is detected to the south with a quick scan. There is at least one evil aura to the north, somewhere between Kasidra and the end wall.

Striker with his low light vision no longer sees the need to use his "Ioun Torch" and stows it away. [talk]I agree with Kasidra, a rear guard would be wise, but I suggest we stay close while investigating the southern approach. We know there is something to the north to watch for, but what of the south, let us clear that area first. Then we can deal with what lurks to the north.[/talk]

The orc will move into the hall just a bit (3219 I think) and focus on what is happening up to the north.

Striker & Precious will take up a rear gurard position at 3319 (Precious @ 3320) next to the Orc and focus his attention to the north as Precious sniffs the air for any stray scent...

Kasidra reports what she has sensed to the north of the intersection to her companions. Cleart offers her opinion, too. The news prompts the others to move into position.

After placing his light back into his pouch, Striker and Precious move out into the corridor and look to the north. Mugtork moves into place next to Striker and watches the north.

Thoros does the reverse, moving to the south. He moves to the south and notices that the corridor continues back to the west. The human oracle dimly sees another door in the south wall but the shadows are too dark beyond that to see anything.

If its agreeded to that we are going to check to the south first, I suggest we take up the standard formation and move south to investigate the door/s & passage to the west.

Thoros is concern about the Evil presence at the North and keeps alert, but still want to be sure that the south is checked. Because an Evil presence and undisturbed floors, may only mean one thing... Undeads...

The group continues to debate which way to go. Cleart moves up to join the others while Garoth moves to the south to examine the hallway. The half-orc sees that the corridor continues past the second door. Unlike the door to the south, the second door is not barred. In fact, Garoth’s darkvision spots a faint glimmer of light from under the far door.

Striker looks to the north while Thoros casts a spell to both to the west and north.

Perception check if this is undead should be 35 for Striker. Any aditional information this would provide would be shared. Also because this is a Favored Enemy, A ranger may make Knowledge skill checks untrained when attempting to identify these creatures. Would that be a +3 to a Knowledge: Dungeon that I need to roll?

Garoth describes what he sees in the southern corridor to the others. Everyone seems to be more focused on Thoros and Striker and how they respond to what they noticed. Thoros moves north and casts Prayer in anticipation of combat. Striker and Precious ready themselves, too. Cleart and Mugtork look to the north, too, but do not spot anything. Kasidra moves after the others to place herself on the front line and also fails to spot anything.

Striker observes the humanoid, not seeing an immediate threat, but not trusting there is none. He notches two arrows and READIES them to be let loose at any threat or Undead that presents its self to him or his group .

Garoth curses under his breath at being so far from the humanoid in the hall. He quickly sheaths his dagger, pulls out his crossbow and loads it. He then takes careful aim and looses a bolt if the creature makes any threatening movements. Crossbow Attack: [dice]0[/dice] Crossbow Damage: [dice]1[/dice] [ooc]Garoth should be able to sheath, draw and reload as a free action combined with a move action due to the Quick Draw feat. If it takes more time than this let me know and he'll hold his attack until the next round. Also, I forgot to add the +1 to attack and damage for Prayer so they will be modified to 15 attack and 9 damage.[/ooc]

The orc already for battle will wait until he can see what everyone else feels threatened by and then move up to attack.
