Jailbreak!

Groggily waking up with a parched throat on a hard floor in a room smelling of stale, unwashed bodies is never the best way to start your day. Realizing that you aren't alone and that one wall is made of bars and not stone like the rest just means that it's going to be even worse than you thought. Your life will be getting very interesting, very soon. A one-shot module for level 1 characters, the players must escape their imprisonment, or face the consequences.

Brak seems oblivious to the planning of the guard roster as he stands blocking the doorway. He waits for Siril to extinguish the light before stepping into the room and shutting the door behind him. He then sits against the wall closest to where the door handle is and props his greatsword within easy reach.

Everyone settles down and Brak comes inside and closes the door, plunging the room into darkness. Only Morck and Brak can still see. Finding the wall next to the door occupied by Moe, Brak settles with his back to the door, weapon at hand.

The watches pass mostly uneventfully. Morck thinks he hears something from the direction of the wall with the bookshelf at one point, but only the once and it doesn't repeat.

After the last watch, Moe wakes up everyone up. You are all hungry and thirsty, but otherwise you are much refreshed by your rest and the remaining drugs have left your bodies, leaving you far more alert than you were previously. Unfortuantely, the room is still in darkness.

Siril opens the doorway to the hall and light flows through, again illuminating parts of this room.

Morck attempts to cast a spell and sags with relief and joy as the magic once more flows at his command. As he concentrates, a number of items seem to glow to his sight. (Are you going to keep on the concentrating for now? If so, give me some knowledge arcana checks if you are tyring to pick out schools from the auras)

If light permits once the door has been open, Moe will continue to examine the clock, thinking it might be a time lock. He starts to look for some depression that it might fit in, in the room and outside the door in the immediate hall wall.

Several actions, stop me whenever...

Siril hands the goblin dagger to Moe saying softly, [whisper]This is a bit small as a weapon, but might be perfect as a tool.[/whisper]

He then quietly tells the others, [whisper]Going to take a quick look behind.[/whisper]
Bow in hand, he takes a step out of the room (to -P-2) and listens carefully toward the corridor.
If he hears something he quietly alerts the others and steps to -P-3.
--If he hears nothing, he makes himself small and peeks around the corner.
----If he sees something, he ducks back to -P-3 and alerts the others.

If nothing at all, then...

Is the light from the hallway still coming from 'somewhere'? (No torches).
--If there is a torch, Siril grabs one and helps to closely inspect the bookcase. Same one he was looking at the night before?
If not, he opens the door as wide as it will go to let the light in, then takes a look at the bookcase.

Seeing what to appears to be magic Coty will cast a detect magic spell to see if his magic is back as well. If it is he will say [talk]OK, now that my magic is back I am going to summon a friend of mine. Please do not attack Linkie, even if you think he looks a bit strange. He may be able to help if we get into another battle.[/talk] Coty will then summon Linkie.

If his magic is not back Coty will kick at the ground in disgust and say [talk]why is HIS magic back and not mine?[/talk]

[ooc]Linkie looks like a okapi (giraffe + horse + zebra looking thing), but he is green and blue in colors and not your typical animal color.[/ooc]

Moe examines the clock in the light coming through the door, but most of the room remains in darkness to his eyes. He finds no depressions for the clock in the wedge of room that is lit, or in the hallway.

Coty successfully casts Detect Magic then warns everyone before performing a minute long ritual. A strange creature appears next to Coty.

Morck points out that he heard something from the eastern wall. Siril gives Moe a small dagger to use as a tool before going out to check the hallway. It is still lit from an unknown source and empty, and he can see the open pit at the far end.

Moe moves toward the east wall, but the light doesn't reach it and he can make nothing out clearly. Siril soon joins him, but also can't see much.

Morck will then continue to try to identify the 'unknown' items, taking tiny sips of potions if that would help identify those.

Siril had put out the last torch before it burned out completely. Do we have any way to light it? Flint/steel or a striker of some kind? Even if it only lasts a few mins, that should be enough.

Morck does not have any spells to make light - as he can see in the dark, he did not bother learning such...

The group quickly searches the wall with the bookshelf in the minute that Coty's lights are active. Moe notices a stone that may be a trigger for a hidden mechanism to the right of the shelf, but it won't move whne he tries to manipulate it. There must be a component you have missed.

Puzzled as to what could be missing, Moe goes outside into the hallway where there is light. Setting down he thinks about what could be missing as he puts the clock device back together.....THINKING: Could it be the weight of the weapons we found, hanging on the wall that allows the stone to move... Moe then announces his idea...[talk]Hey, we should put the room back to the way it was when you found me, then maybe that stone will move...[/talk] He then explains that maybe the weight of some items might be a trigger for the stone in the wall...he then finishes putting the clock device back together, hoping he has got it right as he checks to see if it is running...

The one minute time on the dancing lights has already run out.
The stone doesn't move when pressed currently.
Yes, Coty can make an attempt to identify the items you missed.
and as a gentle reminder, Moe and Siril only got about halfway around the room before they stopped searching due to the torches running out (bottom wall and bookshelf wall)[/ooc]
