Prost examines his finds, but doesn’t quite know what to make of them. He snaches them up and on his way out of the room hands them off to Marcus and Lola telling them what he knows about them, commenting...[talk]What do you make of these? I found them under that crate.[/talk]
Prost seems to lose interest in the items as quickly as he passed them off to Marcus and Lola. As he starts to make his way to the door south of the trap door @ 1122 he yells back to the others... [yell]Tex, Figle, Cyrius! Come on, we still have this one door to the south[/yell] Realizing he is making too much noise Prost quickly sneaks off to the edge of the fog (@1214) to wait for the others to follow.

Prost concludes that both the holy symbol (being gold) and the broken dagger blade (being silver) are valuable (worth 100 gp and 50 gp, respectively). He hands them over to Lola, who has no idea of their significance [she has no relevant skills], although she and Prost would both recognize the holy symbol as belonging to the goddess Inanna, since Filge previously identified that symbol.

Prost makes a bunch of noise about investigating the door in the south wall of the "Dark Cathedral" and then sneaks off in that direction. The rest of the party seems to disagree, however, and starts gathering near the double doors to the north.

Prost realizing that no one is following his lead, moves back to where everyone has gathered (moves to 1205). [talk]So I take it know ones interested in what’s behind that door in the Cathedral. So what is the plan then? Leave all the treasure and kill all the bad guys?[/talk] Prost is suddenly feeling guilty about not sharing his find in the bunk house. [talk]Ok! I did find something in the bunkhouse.[/talk] Prost shows everybody the small velvet bag containing 20 platinum pieces and a small golden necklace.

Filge keeps his skeletons on guard at the doors until his companions are ready to advance. He raises an eyebrow when Prost shows the items that he found in the bunkhouse but doesn't say anything.

Prost finds no traps on any of the doors. He discovers, however, that the door at 1204 is locked. Listening at 1102, he clearly hears someone talking in a stern tone. He cannot make out the words.

We maybe able to get the drop on them, they do sound distracted. If we fail or suceed, there should be enough noise to signal the rest of you to come in.[/whisper] Prost waits to see if anyone objects before he proceeds.

Cyrius should be able to dim his sunrod by thrusting it into a boot (from which he can quickly withdraw it when the need arises), nodding in agreement with Prost's plan of action.

With that stealth roll, Prost might actually be the sneakiest rogue around. Unfortunately, everyone in the well-lit room beyond the doors is staring right at them, just waiting for them to open. It's not possible for Prost to hide the fact that he's opening the door under those conditions and there's nowhere for him to hide once the door is open. However, I am rewarding Prost's sneakiness by using that 20 he rolled for stealth as the initiative roll for everyone in the party. So you get to go first...

 

Prost opens the door, being ever so stealthy about it. The long, wide chamber beyond the double doors is surrounded on three sides by a balcony perched twenty feet above the floor. Six torches equally spaced along the walls provide light. The side opposite the doors features a sizable viewing box with a sloped floor. The viewing area features a large, ostentatious wooden throne branded with the symbol of Inanna. A huge statue, at least 30 feet tall, of a six-armed woman clutching a variety of various sized axes stands in the midst of the chamber. A fist-sized red gem set in the statue’s forehead glitters in the flickering light. A thick layer of sand covers the floor. The walls are smooth, polished rock.

A number of figures stand above you on the balcony. First, there are two Tiefling women (T1 and T2), attired similarly to those you encountered before. Each has a bow aimed at the doorway.

Next to the Tiefling on the east (right) balcony is an Amazon (K) with dark red hair. She wears a traditional form-fitting Amazon breastplate, designed to accentuate her figure, and carries a heavy steel shield. A battleaxe waits at her hip. Her face bears several scars that mar her otherwise appealing features.

Next to the Tiefling on the west (left) balcony is a hulking brute of a Half-orc (G) whose large gut and bulging muscles strain against his half-plate’s straps and buckles. He wields a light steel shield and has a battleaxe at the ready.

At the other end of the room, at the edge of the viewing box, are two creatures that Filge will recognize as Troglodyte Zombies (Z1 and Z2), since he had similar servants before the rest of you destroyed them. Behind them, standing near the throne is a man in black full plate armor (T) with a crude holy symbol of Innana scribed on its chest plate in dried blood. One of his eyes is missing, and his face bears scars and burns from past battles.

Although Prost's attempt at hiding your entrance fools no one in the room beyond, he's careful enough that you all get a chance to react before Theldrick, Garras, Kendra, and their minions do...

[talk]Yes, but they have higher ground and a balcony for some cover. If we can get on that balcony we can use that for cover too and force them into a single line fight. I know what we just gave up, but I really think fighting from the ground gives them the advantage even if we out number them.[/talk]
