After a brief discussion, the party heads back into the mines and makes their way down into the buried cathedral. On the way, Lola gives Cyrius a healing spell and Cyrius grabs one of the infrequent torches from the mine tunnels. Once they arrive at the cathedral, all is as they left it. Prost drinks a potion of darkvision [according to my records that was your last one, so you didn't have one to offer Cyrius]. The secret DM countdown timer begins in earnest...

Worrel settles his shield on his left arm and quietly draws his sword, ready to lead the way to the south. Again, he concentrates for a moment to determine if there is any evil taint within range.

Lola lets Prost take the lead, and falls into line in the middle of the group with crossbow out and ready.

Prost with no objection takes the lead, moving quietly down the hall way to the edge of the light/vision of those behind him, trying to stay in the shadows as he moves checking for traps along the way.

Lining up and readying weapons, the party leaves the cathedral and proceeds into the dark corridor. Prost takes the lead, moving quietly and searching for traps. He finds nothing of interest, but notices that the corridor turns to the right up ahead.

As Prost leads the group towards the turn, he is suddenly struck by a well-placed crossbow bolt seemingly from out of nowhere [11 hp damage]! Near the edge of his darkvision, Prost spots the source: a snickering goblin, lurking unseen just around the corner. Before Prost can respond, the goblin scurries off to the east, out of sight around the turn in the corridor.

The paladin puts action to his words by raising his shield in preparation for another bolt or arrow to come from the corner. [talk]I need light, though, to see.[/talk]

Prost falls back and lets Worrel ahead of him...

Worrel sheathes his sword and grips the sunrod in his hand. If need be, he will drop the sunrod to the floor and then draw his sword.

Worrel takes over the lead from Prost. Then, after a bit of discussion, he sheathes his sword and takes a sunrod, adding to the light provided by Cyrius' torch. He leads the group toward the corner where the goblin ran off. However, the party makes it only 20 feet up the corridor before being startled by the loud, nearly simultaneous sound of two gongs. The gongs appear to come from behind the walls directly to Worrel's left and right.

Upon hearing the gongs, Cyrius shouts Back, back, step back! The rest of the party obliges. Worrel drops his sunrod and readies his sword. Although several party members look and listen closely, the hall becomes silent and no one sees anything unusual. “Oy, just an alarm?” asks Tex.
