Hearing Cyrus' call, tex drops his bow and charges the big critter (against his better judgment), drawing his flail on the move.

After her first shot, Lola will run around the backside of the big owl (not to within 5' but stopping at 10', I think 412 if I counted my run correctly). Then next round draw sword, 5' step into battle and attack (will roll attack after validation of this move).

Cyrius charges his mind blade with psychic energy, then thrusts unerringly, finding a particularly vital spot in the owlbear's feathers. [Crit confirmed] We could use some more blades over here! he advises the archers.

Edgar curses under his breath and swings both of his sickles at the big bird. He hits with the first strike, but not the second. [I was a little confused by your post, but gave you the benefit of the doubt and rolled a second attack. I also added flanking and sneak attack damage for you]

Hearing Cyrus' call, Tex drops his bow and charges the big critter, against his better judgment. Drawing his flail on the move apparently complicated things a bit too much for him, and, when he gets within reach of the owlbear, he misses.

The angry and badly injured owlbear now has three targets surrounding it and lashes out at all of them. Edgar avoids a claw, but Cyrius is gouged [9 hp damage] and Tex is bitten [8 hp damage].

Flank the owl (1d20+6=13, 1d6+2=7) If we are using action points (sorry not sure if we are or not), I would like to spend one here on the attack roll. action point roll on to hit (1d6=6) So, if we are that would make the to hit a 19 and the damage 7. If not, the original 13 stands.

Cyrius again charges his mind blade with psychic energy and stabs the owlbear. He kills it!

Now with a chance to take a breath, Cyrius, Lola, Edgar, and Tex can glance inside the crumbling house. The inside is largely filled with rubble and the second floor has completely collapsed. The area near the stairs, however, appears to contain a nest of sorts. A faint hooting sound can be heard from that direction.

“Are you serious? we just killed a mother protecting her nest?” Tex is kinda down. He goes back and retrieves his bow.

He walked about the house to what was left of teh front door, and stepping carefully, walked around to the stairs.

Lola will gather herself and her belongings and then go check on the young. Wanting to see how young, how big... Not really happy with the fact she was part in killing a mother protecting her babies.

Edgar will enter the house and look around for anything that might have been left behind. He will also move to the nest.

With the owlbear dead, Marcus will join the others, but then stop Edgar. “What had you at this place? What do you know of this farm?”

“Death and destruction!” Cyrius blurts. “That mother you're so concerned about would've turned all of us into raw meat! And in case you haven't noticed, some of us have been clawed and bitten rather more than slightly!”

Edgar will turn to marcus. “Shelter brought me here. i was passing by, and saw this house so i decided to take shelter for the night. the rest you already know.”

Gathering herself, Lola turns to the group, “"Who needs healing? Come on over if you can and I can heal you up."”

Cyrius takes Lola up on her offer of healing (down 14 hp).

Having taken no damage, Marcus says, “Thanks, but I'm okay.” Marcus then begins searching the area.

Edgar walks over to lola and says “im a little banged up.” (down 17 hp)

“Aye, thing scratched me pretty good too.” (8 down, i think)

After some discussion, a search of the house turns up the following:

• A baby owlbear, lurking in a corner near the stairs and hooting hungrily
• The remains of another full-sized owlbear, only partially eaten and with evidence of having been slashed with sharp-edged weapons
• The leftover remains of a human, mostly eaten with the only identifiable portion being an arm.

The human arm bears a rather unique-looking tattoo:

Marcus will try to identify that tattoo with what he may know of the local area and his studies in magic if it has any arcane meaning.

edgar is going to go to the remains of the human, cut off some meat and offer it to the baby owlbear.

Marcus is fairly confident that there's nothing arcane about the tattoo. He hasn't been in Rastingdrung long enough to know if there's any local significance (i.e., he has no ranks in Knowledge: Local).

Lola provides some healing for Edgar, Cyrius, and Tex.

Edgar scrounges up some carrion and offers it to the baby owlbear. The creature waddles over to him and takes the meat. After it has scarfed down the food, it makes a happy hooting noise and latches onto Edgar's leg, which is mildly painful (but not damaging).

A comment about Edgar's handle animal check: the rules say "if you have no ranks in Handle Animal, you can use a Charisma check to handle and push domestic animals, but you can’t teach, rear, or train animals." Since the baby owlbear is a wild, not domestic, animal, you aren't really going to be able to "handle" it in any organized way without ranks. You can, however, try things out (like giving it food) and see how it reacts. In this case, what you did seems to have worked. The baby owlbear seems to like Edgar a lot now, although that is currently a mixed blessing, as it is pinching his leg Lola: you cannot drop Endure Elements or Fog Cloud for healing, because those are your domain spells. Per the rules, "The cleric can “lose” any prepared spell that is not an orison or domain spell in order to cast any cure spell of the same spell level or lower." You need to choose a different 1st and a different 2nd level spell to drop. Status Report: Edgar - 10 hp damage Everyone else - uninjured

“You're going to need an awful lot of carrion for that thing” says Marcus laughingly. I just hope you can tame it before it becomes a threat to us.

“Owlbears, I've heard, can bring a few thousand gold from professional trainers. The raise 'em for guarding things mostly. They're still wild animals though.”
