“If these are your lovelies, Athena spare us your uglies!” Cyrius jeers as he manages to shake off the nauseating effects of Marcus' sudden effluvium. “At least the Amazon has the cojones to enter the fray!” he continues, as he deals a ferocious blow to T3. Cyrius' slash is not as mighty as his bravado suggests, but still enough to eliminate the scaly zombie [Critical not confirmed, but ordinary damage is enough to finish off T3].

Also unaffected by the stench, Lola moves forward to slash at the bugbear zombie. And misses badly.

Marcus struggles futilely against the paralysis, angered with his inability to help his comrades.

Aided by his dwarven hardiness, Tex also resists Marcus' foul smell. Still cursing his new bow, he knocks another arrow and sends it toward the remaining troglodyte zombie. With his comrades obscuring his line of sight, Tex's aim is off and the arrow misses [i.e., he missed because the zombies have cover].

“So, you believe yourself superior to my delightful creations?” Filge cackles, “We'll just see about that.” He scuttles forward to where he can catch a glimpse of Cyrius and casts a spell. A ray of black energy fires from his finger, but misses Cyrius by about a mile. Filge frowns.

The bugbear zombie swings its hairy arm clumsily at Cyrius, also missing by a mile. The remaining troglodyte zombie charges forward to bite at Lola, with no success. The skeleton dutifully follows Filge back into the lowered section of the room.

Tex shoulders his bow, moves forward and grabs Marcus.

Tex shoulders his bow, moves forward, and grabs hold of Marcus.

Filge comments, “Yes, grab your inferior pet sorcerer and flee from my ferocious pets. Indeed, let me offer you some encouragement...” Retrieving a small bone from a pouch at his side, he casts a spell at Cyrius, who needs a DC15 Will save to avoid becoming frightened of Filge.

Whether or not Cyrius shakes off the scare spell, it seems to have at least caused a distraction, as the bugbear zombie's next slam gets past his guard [8 hp damage]. Perhaps Lola is distracted too, for the troglodyte zombie sinks its teeth into her [5 hp damage].

Alas, Cyrius fails to resist Filge's spell. If he still gets an attack against the zombie bugbear, he probably hits.

Tex pulls Marcus around the corner, leaving him in 0311. Then he turns and draws his Flail, bracing for what is to come. (Defensive?)

Filge's spell takes immediate effect on Cyrius, who flees in terror down the stairs. On the second floor below, he sees the statue of Filge, which reminds him what he's frightened of, so he continues toward the next set of stairs leading to the ground floor.

Lola manages to stab the bugbear zombie with her short sword. This does not seem to bother the creature as much as it should. [Short swords do piercing damage, so damage reduction applies; only some of Lola's attack got through]

Marcus is still paralyzed.

Tex pulls Marcus around the corner, leaving him on the stairs. Then he turns and draws his flail, bracing for what is to come.

Filge laughs, “Where is your bravado now, intruders? My pets will destroy you!” He casts another spell and the ghostly spectral hand flies across the room to touch Lola. She feels a painful chill spread through her body [5 hp damage and needs a DC14 Fort save to avoid taking 1 STR damage]

With Cyrius run off, the zombies both attack Lola. The bugbear misses, but the troglodyte manages to bite some exposed skin [7 hp damage]

Cyrius continues fleeing, making it all the way down to the 1st floor and part of the way to the front entrance.

Seeing the sword do so little damage, Lola channels energy again against the undead. The small skeleton in front of Filge collapses into unanimated bones. The bugbear zombie is badly damaged and teeters, but does not fall. The troglodyte zombie resists somewhat and appears to still be relatively strong.

Marcus remains paralyzed.

Since the bugbear didn't come to him, Tex goes to it. He swings his flail, but misses.

The bugbear zombie swats Tex [7 hp damage], but then its arm falls off and it collapses on the ground, motionless [Lola's channel energy brought it to 0 hp, so taking an action finished it off.] The troglodyte bites Lola [3 hp damage].

Filge curses, seeing that two more of his pets have fallen. He directs his spectral hand to attack Lola again. Fortunately, she manages to duck its touch.

Trying to avoid the Troglodytes flailing, Tex moves around to 06012, flanking with Lola. He brings his flail down toward its back.

Cyrius continues to run in terror. He makes it just past the threshold of the front door onto the porch. Being outside does nothing to alleviate his fear, however, as the tower of the observatory looms overhead like some great monster.

Lola waits for Tex's flank...

Paralyzed Marcus fumes about the unfairness of his condition.

Easily avoiding the troglodyte's flailing, Tex moves around into a flanking position with Lola. He brings his flail down on the zombie's back. A small amount of damage is transmitted through the creature's squishy hide.

With Tex now in position, Lola switches back to the sword. And is sorry she did, since she misses.

The troglodyte zombie once again succeeds in biting Lola [4 hp damage]. Gravely injured now, Lola has little strength left to stand...

Filge suddenly seems to appreciate the gravity of his situation, since there's no more cursing or taunting from his direction. Nevertheless, he points his spectral hand at Lola one more time. Fortunately for her, it misses again.

Lola, in dire straits, will once again use an energy blast, but this time for healing instead of damage.

Cyrius flees down the outside stairs and about 20 feet in a direction generally away from the observatory. At which point, he recovers his senses. He can't imagine why he could have been so afraid of that scrawny necromancer...

Marcus remains paralyzed.

Seeing the blunt flail not do much to the sqishy zombie, Tex backs up, unslings his bow, and fires an arrow into the trogs back. The arrow hits with a "thunk," but does only a little damage, since the creature has no vital organs to pierce.

Lola, in dire straits,once again channels energy from Artemis, but this time for healing instead of damage. For both Lola and Tex, some of their wounds close [Tex and Lola each healed 10 hp]. Curiously, although he is within range of the burst, none of Filge's injuries are healed.

The troglodyte zombie, for once, bites Lola on one of those rare sections of her body actually covered by the chainmail bikini and, thus, does no damage.

Filge is more successful. His spectral hand pokes Lola, sending an irresistible chill through her [6 hp damage, needs a DC14 Fort save to avoid 1 STR damage].

OUT-OF-CHARACTER:    Pat, is that jsut flavor for describing DR? i only ask because the way you worded it made me want to mention that undead in Pathfinder are susceptible to precision damage. (though deadly aim isnt precision damage, its just like power attack.)

OUT-OF-CHARACTER:    Yes, the previous description of Tex's arrow hit was just flavor describing DR. I'm aware that PF undead are susceptible to crits and sneak attack and such. It actually makes this adventure path much more survivable, since it's undead-heavy..

Lola finds herself weakened by the chilling touch. She decides to channel energy to harm the zombie in a last ditch effort to finish the creature. The zombie takes full damage. It teeters, but does not fall.

The zombie seeks revenge and makes a last effort to bite Lola. Its feeble effort not only fails to connect, it also causes its jaw to fall off. The zombie crumbles into a heap on the ground. [The channel energy put the zombie at 0, so its final attack effort brought it down]

Filge watches the last of his precious pets fall with horror. “Aaaack,” he gasps, “Wait! I give up! Don't hurt me!” He raises his hands in the air, swinging his head back and forth fearfully between Lola's sword and Tex's bow. “Take whatever valuables you want, just let me go!” He offers.
