Round 20 Continues

With righteous indignation at the mention of the evil god Demogorgon, Worrel attacks again. He overcomes Grallak Kur's defenses and the grimlock collapses, unconscious [7 hp damage]

Combat Ends (unless someone does something silly, like heal Grallak Kur)
ACTIVE EFFECTS
The purple dashed lines on the map represent sharp 10 foot cliffs. If you were to leap off a cliff, you could make a DC15 Jump or Tumble check to land on your feet and take no damage. Ascending a cliff would require a DC15 Climb check.

Lola: loaded heavy crossbow readied, wand of CLW 14 charges left (stowed), 24 bolts left, 0 channel energy, 4 storm burst left, only domain spells left, 3 hp damage
Texudus TreeBender: longbow readied, 39 arrows left, 12 hp damage
Evan Prost: short sword readied, slingstaff dropped at 1832, 13 regular bullets left, ZERO (0) bolts left, darkvision 154.5 min, 24 hp damage
Marcus Tilsworth: loaded crossbow readied, 0 elemental rays left, 15 bolts left, 13 hp damage
Cyrius of the Sudden Blade: mind blade longsword readied, crossbow dropped at 0829, sunrod tucked in boot, 13 bolts left, 21 hp damage

Lola will stow her weapons and climb down the cliff (take 20 if possible) and then zap the following with the CLW wand:

Worrel:[dice]0[/dice]
Texudus:[dice]1[/dice]
Evan:[dice]2[/dice]
Marcus:[dice]3[/dice]
Cyrius:[dice]4[/dice]

Then she will help secure Gur and loot.

"Thank you, Lola! That is much appreciated!," exclaims the paladin. "Do we need to question this one? Perhaps to learn more about his plans and allies?"

The grimlock had stated that he was the servant of Demogorgon. He wracks his memory to recall what he can about that power.

[ooc]Knowledge (religion) +4 (to identify / recall what he can about that name)

And, an OOC question - does self-declared demon worship merit summary execution in the religion of Mitra?[/ooc]

After thanking the Amazon for the healing, Cyrius moves to 2032 in order to keep watch on the zone of darkness at the far end of the cave, in case something (else) comes out of it (or is there when it dissipates).

Prost, thanks Lola for the healing, retrives his sling staff, and begins a systematic search of the area...starting with the fallen foes, then moving from the cliff face, north to south and moving east, then south to north, stopping upon reaching the fog, he will wait for it to clear before searching there.

I believe this is correct; Prost hast two Potion of Cure light wounds in his handy haversack and could use some more healing. Assuming that is correct, (I think it is) would the party mind if he were to use them, or save them, since any one can drink a potion but not use a wand, :hmm: looking to get more healing...

The party spends a few minutes healing and searching. Lola's wand results are incorporated below. Prost searches the dead/unconscious grimlocks and, once the obscuring mist dissipates, the rest of the room (I just used your first search roll for everything, because it's easier that way). The dead grimlocks have nothing of value; their longspears are probably not even worth carrying out of the caverns.

On Grallak Kur, you find:
  • Banded mail of at least masterwork quality
  • A whip of at least masterwork quality
  • An ordinary battleaxe
  • A shiny brooch
  • A pouch with 42 gp
  • A scroll that appears to be written in blood (see post to follow).
Tucked behind a large rock wedged into a corner of the room, you find:
  • 500 gp in coins
  • A silver holy symbol of Mitra with great hacks and gashes cut into it (but still worth 200 gp)
  • A pearl necklace worth 400 gp
  • A coil of rope.
[ooc]According to my records, Prost has one (1) potion of cure light wounds remaining in his haversack.[/ooc]

[ae]Worrel: 42 arrows left, 0 lay on hands left, 12 hp damage
Lola: wand of CLW 9 charges left (stowed), 24 bolts left, 0 channel energy, 4 storm burst left, only domain spells left, 3 hp damage
Texudus TreeBender: l39 arrows left, 9 hp damage
Evan Prost: 13 regular bullets left, ZERO (0) bolts left, darkvision 149.5 min, 21 hp damage
Marcus Tilsworth: 0 elemental rays left, 15 bolts left, 6 hp damage
Cyrius of the Sudden Blade: sunrod tucked in boot, 13 bolts left, 16 hp damage

Here's the scroll found on Grallak Kur. It's written in Ghinoran. In blood, possibly Elf blood.

Cyrius will take 10 to ascend the slope at the eastern end of the cavern (Climb check is 19) to see if anything is there.

[ooc]Nothing of immediate interest in the newly recovered equipment; the banded mail is heavy armor, with which he is not proficient.[/ooc]

Worrel looks up at the mention of a holy symbol dedicated to Mitra. If nothing else, purifying it and returning it to a temple of his deity should be done. The attempted desecration of the symbol reminds Worrel of something, causing him to pray and call upon the divine light of Mitra to reveal the signs of evil within the area.

Tex, briefly lost in reflective thought, perks up a bit... [talk]eh, yeah, Thanks Lola[/talk]

He walks around the chamber, climbing up/down cliffs as needs, surveying the walls. Using stonecunning to see if there is anything unusual.

Lola gives Prost a bit more healing from the wand [9 hp total].

Tex's thorough search of the walls identifies a section (around 2334) that appears to have been previously excavated, but since filled in, either intentionally or because of a collapse. With his stonecunning, he can tell there used to be a tunnel here, but it would take many days of work, even with the proper tools, to re-open it.

Marcus casts detect magic revealing that several items are magical, as indicated below.

Treasure:
  • Banded mail +1
  • Masterwork whip
  • Ordinary battleaxe
  • Brooch of shielding (82 charges)
  • A pouch with 42 gp
  • 500 gp in coins
  • A silver holy symbol of Mitra with great hacks and gashes cut into it (but still worth 200 gp) {Worrell}
  • A pearl necklace worth 400 gp
  • Rope of climbing
[ooc]You have now found everything there is to find in this room and section of dungeon. You may recall, however, that there's still one more door exiting that main temple room. See this post from three years ago.[/ooc]

[ae]Worrel: 42 arrows left, 0 lay on hands left, 12 hp damage
