Game Re-evaluation

Geographically, Perearth is a world with some remarkable similarities to our own. But the similarities end there.

Game Re-evaluation

Post by patransom » Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:18 pm

Okay guys, I just had a massive meltdown of my main PC and am posting from my old, backup laptop. This issue will cause a game delay while I straighten this out and see what I can recover from backups, posts here, etc.

So, while I sit here watching the HD on the other PC reformat, it seems an opportune time to determine what those of you who are still playing want to do with this game. For me, I would like to continue along the current plotline with once weekly validations (I can’t do more frequent than that and it doesn’t seem like many of you can either). But not if no one’s interested in continuing …

I would like your comments, opinions, whatever on what I should do with the game.

If we continue, how should I handle players who have disappeared or politely dropped out? Just pretend they were never there and let you continue with a smaller party? Find some way to write them out (the only way I can think of to do that is to fast-forward the plot a little bit)? I’m not willing to play more than one party member as an NPC on a continuing basis, and would rather not play any.

For those of you who are posting less than weekly, are you still interested? What can I do to make you more active? I won’t be insulted if you just want to drop out, but would prefer to know about it.

Here are the characters currently present in game:

Bram (tdsprouse - has posted every week)
Jericho (klaxkor - has posted every week)
Jase (Dink - just joined and has posted every week so far)
Tana (Icefire - seems to only be posting every other week)
Kolan (Jayel - seems to only be posting every other week)
Sunny (sunbolt - MIA until New Year’s, at least)
Lorn (Bazzatard - last posted November 6, seems to be MIA)
Yasmin (techtrooper – just politely informed me that he’s unable to continue)

If everyone could post their opinion, I would appreciate it. I will assume anyone who doesn’t post by December 15 is no longer interested.

In this game, i am feeling disenheartened (SP?) since we havent caught up to the captives yet, was really thinking we would. But in hindsight, i suppose that would have made things pretty short.

Bram is really curious as to whats below the monestary, but also wants to find the orcs and free the captives. and this Dwarf with the orcs outside the monestary is interesting.

Sorry about the lack of posting in the past weeks, it's just that there were times that out of combat I couldn't think of an appropriate action to take. I would like to continue on any plot line. I agree with td that it is a little disheartening that we haven't found the captives but that happens in any adventure that choices are given to the PCs and plans change.

Sorry, had some issues here where my computer access was rather sporadic, but I am still here and would like to continue playing. I've had a similiar issue where sometimes it is hard to think of what actions to post...

I am still interested as well. I have been trying to be as consistent as possible while trying to restart my game and get my life in order.

If you need players to take over characters, I can ask some of the folks I know who are on the sheet of they are interested. Plus you can post interest for people who would like to take over characters.

And if you are really pressed, I am willing to take over characters until such time as you can find a replacement player.

Just thought I would give you some options

Wow, hadn't realised it had been so long since I last posted. I have to agree with jayel that I read the posts regularly but frequently don't have any actions to take during some non-combat rounds. If you prefer I could state that Lorn does nothing if it would help show that I'm still here?

Okay, it seems like, except for the two issues I was already aware of, everyone's still playing. I can handle Yasmin and Sunny for the time being and validations will resume Friday or Saturday.

If it makes everyone feel better, it would have been very hard (not quite impossible, but nearly so) for the party to catch up with the prisoners. I threw obstacles in your way for a reason

For those of you who have been kind of silent, it would indeed help if you just post "character name does nothing" or "character name follows the group." But I do give bonus XP for roleplaying ...

For Bazzatard, think about having Lorn memorize detect magic. It will give him something very useful to do in the aftermath of combat.

If anyone wants some brownie points, you could go through the threads and come up with an accounting of the treasure you've collected and the monsters you've fought since you last leveled up. My records were lost with the hard drive and I'm kind of dreading recreating them.

I do know, however, that the party is exactly one encounter away from levelling up ...

Excellent! Brownie points earned.

The only thing missing is that the dwarf had some well made boots (hint, hint).

He sets to searching the dwarf's corpse, discovering that the dwarf's equipment is very finely made. It looks like something orcs would craft, but is obviously made with skill unusual for orcs. This includes:

- Banded Mail
- A heavy steel shield
- A morningstar

The dwarf also carries:

- 2 vials of alchemist's fire
- 500 gp
this all i found, but i will add well made boots to the above post

I added them in a later post (IC Sunny noticed them, but OC it's because I forgot he had them).

Jase put them on, so the hint wasn't needed. Thanks again.

Examining the gear, the armor, shield, and morningstar are intricately designed with evil-looking symbols, but neither Sunny or Jase recognize them. After testing out the weapons and armor, Jase can tell they are all at least of masterwork quality. Sunny also points out that the dwarf's boots are particularly well made.
Here they are

Sunny seems to snap out of a daze. "Hmm, Jase, those are some nice boots. Do you think they'll fit you?"
