Over the course of the next few hours, the water begins to get choppy and the sails are full. The ship is heading at a good pace North-Northeast. There's a certain energy in the air, almost a twinge of electricity, as the ship sails. The clouds from earlier can still be seen in the distance and there is the occassional roar of thunder heard above the clatter and sounds of the crew. The sun is high in the sky, with not much more than a few whisps of clouds overhead.

Dez emerges from the aft castle, a chart clutched in his massive hand.

Captain, if we head north roughly two days, we can catch the Southeastern Tradewinds off the Isle of Chance and swing around fine. Sound good to you?

Kalis nods and cranks the helm to the left.

Than that is the way we'll go. He looks to one of the more competent looking crewman and calls over. Jonesy! Take the helm, keep it on this heading. Dez and I need to speak to our guests.

Valor stands by patiently, waiting to see what the captain has to say.

Kalis and Dez head into the captain's chambers, motioning for the group to follow. Upon entry, you find a simple, albeit large, bedchamber, a desk, a few chairs, a couch, and chests of charts and drawers. The walls are painted red, the floor hardwood and finished well-enough, but no lavishly.

Following the others into the room, Meph takes a brief glance around and leans against the wall near to the door. Once everyone else has arrived and gotten comfortable, Meph will ask What's wrong? quite bluntly.

Kee finishes whatever he was doing to help out and heads into the Captains quarters following the group. He stands quietly by the door awaiting their next orders.

Varamil stands near a window, hoping a view of the horizon and a bit of fresh air will help him keep steady on his feet, despite the increasingly rolling deck.

As you all finish entering, Kalis sits and leans back, putting his feet up on the table and nods to Dez. Dez proceeds to lay down a large map on the table.

Kalis stands, Come, take a look.

As the party lines up around the table, he starts to point and plot.

We're about here, he sets a model ship about 20 miles off the coast of Varshol, and we need to be here. He places a wooden X on the continent of Sardacia marked "Dagger Point", which is in the northwest corner of the continent.

Our course is subject to change if we find trouble along the way, but that is our primary goal. From our intelligence and anyone who happens to remember a little bit about this place, tells us that this was, at one point, a port town, so we're hoping for some docks. If that's the case, excellent, if it's not, you ladies and gentleman will find yourselves rowing ashore.

He looks around to the party, attempting to gauge the looks on your faces.

We're looking at a month and a half to two months sailing time, provided we don't run into any snags. We need to avoid here and here, he marks two more Xs, because this one is a three hundred mile stretch of coral reef that can, and will, turn this ship into a pile of toothpicks. And here is the Sahaugin territories. As long as we don't wreck or don't invade their territories, we should be able to pass freely.

He pauses a moment, grabs another X marker, this time a green one, and places it on a small island.

This, my friends, is the Isle of Chance. We will make port here for one day, and one day only, and if we play our cards right, we can catch a lift on the trade winds East-Southeast, which will cut our travel time by about three weeks, but it's iffy. If it doesn't work, it can take us an extra three weeks as we get back on course. Thus, the Isle of Chance. Does anyone have anything they would care to add?

Kee growls at the mention of Sahaugin. It will be a long trip and most of my comrades do not seem to be seamen. I would gladly lend what skills I have to help you and your crew captain.

What, if anything, is known of this port town we might find and how long will we need to be in the Sahaugin territory?
He says the last two words as part of a growl.

What does Horace know about all of this?

Dagger Point: Knowledge: Sardacia (1d20+10=29)
Sahuagin (language(s) they speak): Knowledge: Nature (1d20+5=19) and Knowledge: Geography (1d20+5=10)
Isle of Chance: Knowledge: Geography (1d20+5=16)
Weather patterns for this time of year: Knowledge: Arcana (1d20+5=12)

Horace's knowledge checks have been PMed.

Actually, Kee, we are taking an additional day to two days specifically to avoid the Sahaugin territories. Kalis lifts his tunic and opens the fine mail to reveal three parallel scars running across his abdomen and around the side of his body.

After all, the last time I met them, this was not the worst of the injuries. He grins a bit, so I make it a point to stray away.

Ok, one week to the Isle of chance and then hopefully a quick trip to Sardacia. Until then, is there anything you would like us to accomplish while on board.

For the remainder of the trip, Varamil takes those last words to heart. He does his best to assist without getting the way. After observing a task for a while, he lends a hand to any of the crew who will accept his assistance.

I checked through much of the posts on here but might have missed something. I don't think Valor has yet spoken...
Therefore...

Isolde, seeing as people are busting around and she has no interest in lifting heavy things, falling overboard or whatever - ugh, will approach the tin man...

To Valor:
SpoilerShow
If he's not yet spoken: Excuse me. Do you speak? I mean I know your kind can speak but...
I was wondering if I might have a few words with you.

If he has spoken;
Excuse me. I was wondering if I might have few words with you. I'm fascinated with your... construction and was wondering if I might find out more about it.

Ahh, what then do you call yourself?

I'm familiar with constructs of many types but have never personally interacted with one such as yourself.

I'm curious about many things which, I'm sure, there'll be much time to investigate, assuming you're willing.

A spark of interest and excitement flare up in her eyes... Without looking away from Valor she reaches into her bag for parchment and a writing implement... but has not yet fully taken it out of the bag...

Well, Valor... I'm very pleased to meet you. <quicker-than-normal courtly curtsy>

I'd be interested in hearing about your first moments of consciousness, your reactions to sentience, etc. We don't have to go into this now and I'm willing to back off any topic that you might want private...

Well, my first moment of sentience was a very long time ago... I was one of many, just like myself. We were built for the sole purpose of destruction, and we were good at it. But it is hard to describe that as living, I was hardly more than a golem, following the instructions of my creator, or his masters.

Isolde settles into what can only be described as a scholarly look and listens intently.

I see. As part of a campaign on destruction, I could imagine you and or comrades might have been damaged often. Are you skilled in the art of your own repair? For that matter, when you do sustain damage... does it hurt?
Is the concept of pain foreign to you as something that only we talk about?

Well, I feel something when I am damaged. Whether it is what you call "pain" or not, I do not know. It lets me know that I am damaged, but it doesn't impede my functions. And I have some skill in self repair, but usually have rely on others for my repair.
