Most excellent! declares the aid. We'll see you at first light then. I assure you all, that you will enjoy this very much. The aid then leaves you to finish your meals and drinking and Chada returns to her second set on stage.

Then next morning you all arrive at the Foxglove Manor to find a fresh horse waiting for each of you. Aldern and three menservants await you with the horses. He clearly looks excited. You all follow Aldern's lead west over Tanner’s Bridge and along the southern banks of the Turandarok River. It’s a two mile ride to the Tickwood Ford, just north of the upthrust limestone escarpment known as the Devil’s Platter. Many of you local to the area have a general knowledge of this area as a well used hunting grounds for large game animals as well as the occasional fire-pelt cougars. The likelihood of encountering goblins in Tickwood Ford is well known to be no real concern.

During the ride to Tickwood, Aldern spend much time asking you all various questions like where you're all from and what kind of work you do when not adventuring and how you came to be adventuring types. He trots up to Mak and asks him where he learned his amazing combat skills and how many years it took him to learn and master these skills. He also takes interest in Chada's and Vi's casting abilities, in how they came to learn these powers and what drew them to their chosen classes. Most of the talk is general chit chat and idle conversation. Other bits of the talk is general known information about his attempt to reclaim his family estate and the difficulties of finding good labor.

After a certain point, Aldern looks about for Tuckerby to utilize his tracking ability to locate boar signs.

Tuckerby looks down from his horse at the local vegetation, trying to find signs of a boar or game animal nearby.

While Tuckerby is not able to find any fresh boar signs, he is able to identify that they are looking at a path that has been frequented by a variety of game, including boar. Until now, you've all but forgotten that the dogs were with you on this excursion. Aldern signals a manservant handling the dogs and the dogs are shown the path. For a short while you follow the dogs along the path until without warning they dart off down the path yapping and howling. With all the noise, those of you not familiar with boar hunting have trouble understanding how anyone can hunt like this; surely the animals would all be scared off. Aldern and his aids burst into a gallop to keep in earshot of the dogs. all of you promptly follow.

The excitement soon takes you as branches and bramble rush past you. Though you can't see the dogs, after an hour of chase their barking soon changes tune. They've found something. When you finally close in on the dogs, you find them surrounding a thicket. From inside the thicket you hear squeals, to some of you it almost sounds like a goblin. A vocal signal from Aldern provokes two dogs to rush the thicket and soon the brush explodes as a huge boar charges from it. One of the two dogs flies through the air as it's thrown by the boar. It lands with a yelp behind some undergrowth. The boar spots your party on horseback and charges headlong into your group. Your horses don't even wait for your lead and leap out of the boars path; they've been on hunts before. Aldern kicks his horse and maneuvers for a shot at the boar. The rest of you do the same. The boar stops it's charge and is now about thirty feet from your position. It huffs as it readies a new charge. This is truly a big animal.

Adlern draws a small crossbow and fires at the boar.

Tuck pulled his bow out as they followed behind the dogs, realizing that the hunt had actually begun. As the creature charged past them he felt the blood in his body start to burn. Turning and standing readying for another charge, Tuck pulls back his string and releases his arrow at the boar.

Chada is extremely talkative, much less interested in the hunt than trying to get everyone to laugh. Of course, if she is successful, she might not only be hurting the chances of a successful hunt, but also prevent those who want it to succeed from mentioning to her that she needs to be quiet.

The boar bursts out in a wild charge for Devion's horse and tears a gash into the animals front right leg.
Gore Att/Dmg (1d20+4=18, 1d8+3=7)
Devion's horse bucks knocking Devion from its back.
Ride Check to remain mounted. (1d20-2=7)
Fall from mount (1d6=2)
Tuckerby fires his bow at the boar and hits it in the right flank. The boar squeals and tries to run.

As the boar runs following the second hit three of the dogs give chase and soon the animals are lost in the underbrush. Eventually the boar emerges again with a snapped arrow sticking from it. One of the dogs emerge with what seems to be the other half of the arrow in its mouth. Blood flows from the arrow and the bolt still lodged in it. The boar huffs and turns to face one of the dogs nearest it. It is now twenty feet from Mak's right; the rest of you are to his left in staggered positions, so you all have a clear ranged shot if you can take it.

As the boar readies for another charge as Mak throws a shuriken at it but the wind catches a low branch and the shuriken gets logged in it. Tuck fires another arrow and, even with the penalty of untrained mounted archery, he hits the boar again. His arrow sinks deep into flesh above its right shoulder. Vi, seeing that this boar is tougher than most, adds her special touch and the boar quivers a moment from the shocking jolt. It's clearly wounded, but does not yet seem effected by the damage. The boar snorts in defiance.

 OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
Mounting and dismounting is a move action, though for a dwarf it may take a full round action because you're short. :P So, dismounting and walking to someone would be a double move, but being as I said we're not in initiative, we're also not in rounds, officially. So a dismount, move, and "aid another/heal check?" will be permitted.

Vi, feeling confident in her new found use of her power, launches another electrical orb of power. The air sizzles as the orb flies over the boar and smacks into a tree. A marvelous display of sparks and static discharge erupt from the impact. Some of you think you notice the hairs on the boar stand on end as the air near it become energized.

Tuck knocks and looses another arrow at the boar. His aim is on the money as his arrow lands solidly in its flank.

Durmisht draws the attention of the boar as he dismounts and readies an attack with his greatsword.

The boar, seeming to understand the language of the barbarian, burst into a charge. Boar Gore Att/Dmg (1d20+4=23, 1d8+3=10) The boar's attack triggers Durmisht's readied action and he bears down on the boar while it's still in reach.

Aldern changes his position after Devion gets between him and the boar. He loads and fires his small hand crossbow at the boar. His aim is off as the boar unexpectedly moves, causing his shot to strike the ground between Durmisht and the boar. Att/Dmg (1d20+10=12, 1d4=2)

While the boar was still in reach, Durmisht hacks at it with his greatsword, inspired by Chada's word, and cleaves a gaping wound into the boar's flank at the same time that a crossbow bolt thuds into the ground between him and the boar. Durmisht looks in the direction the bolt came from and sees Aldern wave apologetically as he reloads for another shot. Taking a massive hit from the barbarian, the boar squeals in agony and lumbers off in an attempt to escape. As the boar moves, Vi releases another orb at it, but just missed. The orb hits the ground near it sending a shower of sparks across the ground.

All of you can tell that one more good hit could likely take it down. Aldern is clearly excited by the hunt and eminent kill.

Just in case Durmisht and the rest miss, Vi lines up another elemental blast at the boar, but she's too busy answering Chada's rhetorical question to aim properly. I don't know any fire spells, but we could probably start a fire with lightning, if necessary. Apparently, she didn't get the joke and its inspirational properties were wasted on her.
