Character Creation

A city of mysteries, secrets, and dark histories, Ptolus lies forever in the shadow of a towering stone spire reaching impossibly high into the sky, itself an enigma and a reminder of evil long past. Ptolus is a place where the supernatural is expected, and treachery lies around every corner—or is it that the supernatural lies around every corner and treachery is expected? Either way, Ptolus is a city of danger, magic, intrigue, and above all: adventure.

Seeing as we have two rogues and a bard, we need some muscle up front, hence Hraz.

But do we need a arcane blaster more than muscle? If you think we do, I am quite happy to change from Hraz to a arcane blaster of some description

True, we do need an arcane blaster, but don't we need more Beef Shield than not?

OUT OF CHARACTER
Here is my entry with a basic background

Cole Bastion is the only child of Calvin and Chloe Bastion, wealthy entertainers from the Oldtown section of Ptolus.

While his parents performed in theather presentations, Cole spent his time in the local libraries, studying all he could. At a young age he was introduced to the mage Serral Kahn.

Serral agreed to teach Cole the ways of magic. Studying Serral's specific discipline of magic, Necromancy, was difficult for the weak stomached Cole but he was able to persevere through the studies.

Short, thin, and pale with dark features, Cole wears short or no sleeved white shirts with dirty brown colored pants.

After talking to a couple people, it seems that I wasn't clear about something. You could pick classes and races outside of the PHB. If you want to change your class and/or race, you can right now. If not, that's ok. Just keep that in mind if you want to multiclass and want to use a class outside of the PHB.

Hey, all.

I definitely want to keep my original character, so I'll have mine updated within a day or so.

Question: Which do you think would take more time, adapting the existing character file to the new skills or re-entering the character info into the blank file with the correct skill system?

Thanks,
Troy

Kaul Kettlefist is a youngish Grailwarden dwarf & native to Ptolus. He is currently employed as a Journeyman Mason for the Stonemason's Guild only recently earning his Journeyman status by preparing some blueprints that solved a vexing sewer-line problem. An unmarried, third son, Kaul lives alone in a Guild apartment on VanMitten St in east South Market. Kaul is as comfortable with drafting plans for projects as he is with a pick, trowel and mortar.

Kaul is on the "puny" side for a Dwarf, being less robust than many of his race. He has red hair, a neatly trimmed beard, and wears spectacles. He can often be seen wandering the streets of Ptolus, puffing on his pipe and sketching in his journal as he admires the ancient architectural work of his ancestors.

I think an artificer is a much better fit for you than a rogue. That's what I get from your background, harneloot.

As for your items, your choice of outfit is for free. As for your suggestion of weapons, the hatchet would have the stats of a handaxe while the crowbar would have the stats for a light mace.

Hmmmm...never heard of that class before. Is it from Eberron? If so, I don't have any Eberron books - never got into that setting.

He'll go with the crowbar.

It is from Eberron. I suggest you download the class file and take a look at for yourself. Since Knowledge Architecture is a class skill for Artificers and that skill doesn't exist in my game, you can take History, Local, and Dungeoneering for the full effect of Knowledge Architecture. I can help you with the Artificer since I do have the source book.

Done.

Artificer sounds very cool, but I think more as something he grows into, not something he starts with.

Background Story for Branador

Branador learned well the values taught him by his tribe and became a good hunter/tracker on the open plains four days west of Ptolus. While out on a hunt, he returned to find his tribe decimated. Only a mix of orc and goblin footprints gave him an idea of how they met their end. After taking the time to bury his people he found his life no longer good in the plains. He ventured to Ptolus and hired his services out as a guide and tracker and occasionally assisted in city investigations or acted as guard to various wealthy nobles and merchants.

During this time, he found trust in Iniata Despond; an aged trader of miscellaneous weapons and armor. His shop is found at the southwest corner Market Street and Carver Lane. As of now, they've been friends for five years. Another good and trusted friend is Ealiala Besht; proprietor of The Melith Inn on Tabor Street between Inner and Outer Ring Row. He's also on good terms with Merdith. Merdith is a drifter living off the streets peddling this and that and having little luck in holding steady work.

During one of his times acting as guard to a Noble's estate, Branador had a heated disagreement with a Noble by the name of Radious Dule. A small boy was caught trying to steal a fruit from a branch of a tree growing over the estate wall. Radious demanded the boys hand for his crime. Instead, Branador released the boy and off the estate and warned him to never be seen here again. Radious was outraged and accused Branador of cowardice and discharged him of his guard duties. Branador knows what he did was right, that the punishment was excessive from Radious. However, this disgrace from Radious continues to dwell in the back of Branador's mind.

While acting as escort to a merchant Branador only knew as Harris, he and his detail fell ambush by members of the Pale Dogs Gang and were overwhelmed. While he and two others and an aid to the Harris survived, Harris was dead. His person appeared to have been looted. Feeling as though he failed in his duty, he's sworn revenge against the Pale Dogs for this act.
