And I don't see anywhere to enter the code to activate it. Now, I AM using Openoffice 2.1. Is that the issue?

You need to be subscriber to TOS+ to be able to use it.
OpenOffice is NOT supported.

Thing is, I AM a subscriber. I can use it in the demo mode, but I see nowhere to enter my key to get it out of demo mode.

You need to download the non-Demo version. Goto the Download section of the TOS+ forum.
