While inspired by Chada's words, Vi mistakenly responds to the comment at some expense to her casting by saying, I don't know any fire spells, but we could probably start a fire with lightning, if necessary. Apparently, she didn't get the joke and its inspirational properties were wasted on her. Ranged touch (including Chada's bonus to attack) (1d20+4=8, 1d6=2)

Tuckerby laughs at the jest Chada took at them as he released an arrow from his bow. It cost enough of a distraction that his aim hits the ground several feet from the boar. Ranged Attack (Composite Longbow) vs Boar and Damage including bonus (1d20+6=8, 1d6=3)

With amazing skill and grace, Mak leaps from his horse in a half-gainer toward the boar to come down in a flying kick attack. While his dismount was outstanding, his aim was not quite there and he lands just a couple feet short of the boar. Acrobatics to Vault off the horse (1d20+6=20)
Unarmed Strike Attack vs Boar (+1 for high attack) (1d20+5=13, 1d6+4=5)

Durmisht charges after the boar swinging his greatsword from overhead. 1d20 4=13, 2d6 4=9 His charge adds some power to the attack, but he feels that without Chada's bit of inspiration he could have just missed hitting the boar. It was all the boar could take. The massive animal collapses to the ground dead.

Aldern and his menservants and two more of you assist in lifting and securing the boar to one of the horses. The dogs are busy lapping up the blood in the soil the boar spilled. Aldern comments on the size of the beast and how tough it was. Several of you remark the same and return to town. This time the trip is slightly longer as the hunt surprisingly took you further than though. It's amazing how easily distracted a hunt can make someone. You find yourselves back at his manor and he leads you around back where you can see the setting for a party. People are all about drinking and talking, but these are not commoners of Sandpoint. You notice by their dress that these people are the influence and hierarchy of the town. While the Mayor and Sheriff and other office holding officials of Sandpoint are not present, many respected merchants and nobles have come. The boar is lead away to a fire pit and the cook takes over preparing it for the feast.

As you all mingle about, many ot the guests great you all and thank you for your help with the goblins. For many of them the thanks is selfish as they refer to the cost in business it would have had should the goblins have succeeded further than they did. For others, the thanks was genuine and well meant, not a common trait of a nobleman.

The day runs into night as the feast continues and finally Aldern draws everyone's attention to him. Thanks to all of you for coming on such short notice to thank our heros, his speech begins. He goes on about how you all saved his life and the lives of so many others. He continues with a lot of long winded boasting and embellishment that is typical of nobles. Soon he comes to a close by calling you all to him and once there he is handed a small box by a servant. He opens it and hands each of you a pouch the jingles of coins. He remarks that this is thatnks from his and the others for putting yourselves in harms way and saving the town.

 OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
Each of you receive 50g as reward and 93 XP for the hunt.
I don't remember if I mentioned this, but you all receive another 85 XP for Dregs' encounter and successful diffusion of the Shyliss incident. This should put all of you at a total of 610 XP now. Next post coming up shortly.

The party at Foxglove Manor was entertaining and profitable to each of our heros as the reward came as a complete surprise. As you all mingled and talked it up with various Nobles and wealthy merchants, you make some contacts and find new friends.

Chada is asked to entertain at some private parties by people who recall a performance or two they saw of hers.
Durmisht, Devion, and Mak are approached by a rotund boisterous man named Aydjen Syl, a half-elven aristocrat who runs the Brentwere Lending House. It's a two story stone building with a basement. He asks the three of you about taking on work as personal guards to his debt collector. You're each offered 1g 3s per week as pay for this service.
Hearing Aldern boast about Tuckerby's tracking skills and talents as a woodsmen, a number of men try hiring Tuckerby as their guide for hunting excursions and sight seeing trips. They'll all try negotiating a reasonable rate for his service.
Violasha is approached by Vorvashali Voon, human male; owner of The Feathered Serpent. He asks her if she'd mind assisting him in some work at his shop like charging up wands and writing scrolls and things of the sort. He'll be willing to pay her for her time.
Dregs is offered donations amounting to a total of 45g to help him further his cause and aid him in his devotion.

Two more days pass while you all go about doing what ever you do when...

Devion, Tuckerby, Durmisht, Mak, Dregs, and Vi are walking down the street when a woman carrying a baby and almost dragging her son approaches the group of you.

Please, you MUST help me! Since the goblin raid so many days ago Aeren just hasn't been the same. She begins explaining indicating her son beside her. She goes on explaining how he's been waking at night screaming and sending their dog petal into a fit barking. She explains about his story of a goblin in the closet and how just this morning she and her husband Alergast were woken again by Aeren screaming, but this time the dog went from barking to a yelp. When they reached his room, she and her husband found the dog with a shard of metal in his head and a goblin on top their son trying to chew his arm. She shows the bite marks on the boys arm. Please, you must help my husband. He knocked the goblin off our son and sent me away from the house with the children to get help. No one I've approached yet is will to help or believe this is true. My husband is alone in the house with this goblin. She begins to sob.

What do you do? PM me whether you take on the work prospects offered at Foxglove Manor. Post here if you each go to help with this new situation.

Durmisht takes one look at the child the woman is holding and asks Which way? in a gruff voice. A look at his face shows his barely restrained rage. When the woman points the way, Durmisht takes off in that direction as fast he can.

As you all hurry off, your hear her call out the location of her home. Once you arrive at the home, the door is wide open. When you enter, all is quiet. You first enter a large common room with standard residential furnishings and a fireplace. From this main room, a kitchen is in easy view as well as a hall. As you cautiously enter the hall, you find three doors. The first door is open and is a bathroom with tub and water basin for washing as well as a sitting stool with a hole in its top. The next door in the opposite wall gives access to the master bedroom. You can see a large four post bed, a trunk at the foot of the bed, two chest-of-draws, a full size mirror, and a smaller mirror. Throughout the home on the walls are occasional paintings here and there. The last door is in the same wall as the bathroom is open and quiet. When you stand before the open door, you all can see the dog with a shard of metal in its head and a pool of blood under and around it. You also see a small bed, dresser, and a closet. You see a man half way in the closet. A moment of observation shows you the man moving abnormally.

What do you do? You still hear nothing in the home.

Durmisht steps over the man and Tuckerby has his bow drawn facing the closet. To Tuckerby, the man's whole upper body is in the closet as if trying to reach for something, but seems to be stuck. It could seem the the odd movement the man seems to be making could be that he's stuck somehow.

While it seems a brief fight took place, no obvious threat is visible in the room. The man does not respond, but it could be that he just may not be able to hear you.

When Mak tries removing the man from the closet he finds resistance. With another stronger try, the man comes free from the clutches of the closet and slumps on the floor, a bloody mess. One side of his face looks as though chunks were bitten off. Further examination reveals more bites of muscle and tissue missing from his chest. The man's forearm has been chewed through to bare bone. It doesn't take long for blood to pool on the floor under him. While a pulse may still be there, it's a faint one and growes weaker by the moment. The man's appearance is obvious to everyone that if he doesn't get treated for his wounds fast, he's certain to die.

With that, Tuck moves from his location to look at the closet and to see where the man had gotten stuck at.

Stepping into the room, Dregs assumes a stance of authority. Alright then lads and lasses, ev'ryone stand back and let me do my thing.

 OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
Using his domain ability Rebuke Death Rebuke Death (1d4=4)

I know it's not much healing, but Dregs doesn't want the man up and panicking whilst a goblin might still be around.

He will then take a closer look over the man's body to see if there are any more serious wounds that could prove dangerous.

Dregs enters the room and uses his divine power to heal the man slightly, but it's clear that this will not be enough to save him. Dregs, knowing this then tries to tend to the mans wounds and is able to stabilize his condition.

Tuckerby tries looking into the closet to find why the man got stuck when suddenly, before he can look into the closet, a goblin leaps out from somewhere inside it. The look on its face reveals to all of you that this goblin had become insane and desperate. Faster than thought possible, the goblin reaches to the dog and pulls the metal shard from its body. He lunges at Tuckerby with his makeshift knife and misses. Crazed Goblin Att/Dmg (1d20+3=10, 1d4=4)

Tuckerby, with his bow in his hands, knows he is not properly prepared to fight in direct melee with the goblin. Instead he decides to step back out of the way and allow those with their melee weapons ready to attack.

Mak steps up to the Goblin, and sends his fists into play:
Attack vs Crazed Goblin - Flurry (First attack is a Stunning Fist attack) (1d20+2=15, 1d6+4=10, 1d20+2=8, 1d6+4=6)

The first attack being a Stunning Fist, the FORT DC to avoid being stunned is DC12 if that attack was a hit.

With everything going on Durmisht seems confused and unsure of what to do. Tuckerby, acknowledging that he's not prepared for melee combat, steps back to give room for the others to get at the goblin. Vi summons the power of her talent and an aura of power shimmers about her. She then reaches into one of her scarves and removes a starknife. Mak leaps at the goblin and uses the power of his leap to back up a powerful punch. The goblin's face crumbles from the sudden blast and collapses into a heap.

After the calm quiet fills the room, footsteps are heard entering the hall and the wife storms into the room. She sees the goblin and her husband horrifically wounded. Sheriff Hemlock appears right after her. He surveys the scene and asks if any of you know yet where the goblin came from.
