While inspired by Chada's words, Vi mistakenly responds to the comment at some expense to her casting by saying,
“I don't know any fire spells, but we could probably start a fire with lightning, if necessary.” Apparently, she didn't get the joke and its inspirational properties were wasted on her.
Ranged touch (including Chada's bonus to attack) (1d20+4=8, 1d6=2)Tuckerby laughs at the jest Chada took at them as he released an arrow from his bow. It cost enough of a distraction that his aim hits the ground several feet from the boar.
Ranged Attack (Composite Longbow) vs Boar and Damage including bonus (1d20+6=8, 1d6=3)With amazing skill and grace, Mak leaps from his horse in a half-gainer toward the boar to come down in a flying kick attack. While his dismount was outstanding, his aim was not quite there and he lands just a couple feet short of the boar.
Acrobatics to Vault off the horse (1d20+6=20) Unarmed Strike Attack vs Boar (+1 for high attack) (1d20+5=13, 1d6+4=5)Durmisht charges after the boar swinging his greatsword from overhead.
1d20 4=13, 2d6 4=9 His charge adds some power to the attack, but he feels that without Chada's bit of inspiration he could have just missed hitting the boar. It was all the boar could take. The massive animal collapses to the ground dead.
Aldern and his menservants and two more of you assist in lifting and securing the boar to one of the horses. The dogs are busy lapping up the blood in the soil the boar spilled. Aldern comments on the size of the beast and how tough it was. Several of you remark the same and return to town. This time the trip is slightly longer as the hunt surprisingly took you further than though. It's amazing how easily distracted a hunt can make someone. You find yourselves back at his manor and he leads you around back where you can see the setting for a party. People are all about drinking and talking, but these are not commoners of Sandpoint. You notice by their dress that these people are the influence and hierarchy of the town. While the Mayor and Sheriff and other office holding officials of Sandpoint are not present, many respected merchants and nobles have come. The boar is lead away to a fire pit and the cook takes over preparing it for the feast.
As you all mingle about, many ot the guests great you all and thank you for your help with the goblins. For many of them the thanks is selfish as they refer to the cost in business it would have had should the goblins have succeeded further than they did. For others, the thanks was genuine and well meant, not a common trait of a nobleman.
The day runs into night as the feast continues and finally Aldern draws everyone's attention to him.
“Thanks to all of you for coming on such short notice to thank our heros,” his speech begins. He goes on about how you all saved his life and the lives of so many others. He continues with a lot of long winded boasting and embellishment that is typical of nobles. Soon he comes to a close by calling you all to him and once there he is handed a small box by a servant. He opens it and hands each of you a pouch the jingles of coins. He remarks that this is thatnks from his and the others for putting yourselves in harms way and saving the town.
