LoF: The Carrion King; The Ambush

The wishes unleashed over the ages by two genies have warped the Pale Mountain region to keep alive both a terrible beast and a heroic protector. These wishes have subtly warped the weave of the world to put a handful of adventurers on a trail to Kelmarane. It is these adventurers who will tread the path of fate at its most treacherous juncture, and it is they who will ultimately chart the course of history.

With the trap sprung, Kroft dashes out from behind the wall, circling around Ox and positioning himself to take a clear shat at one of the enemy (Q-24)
Shot at Gnoll 1, Damage w/ SA (1d20+4=6, 1d8+2+1d6=12)
Seeing the arrow fly wide of his target, Must have gotten a bad batch.

The trap is sprung?
Seems you missed this post (#2 was where the trap was sprung, enabling us to FLANK them...)

So much for that trap (I just hope they don't run away, as I can't catch them at 20' speed, and I'm no good with a bow ....)

So, I should wait till they catch up with Erin and start beating her up? I should do nothing this round, stay out of sight and wait for them to move in, right?
Duni, the action I described above will be my action for round 3. Round 2 will be staying out of sight of the gnolls so that when I do jump out to shoot, in round 3, they will be caught off guard preserving my sneak attack damage.

If you read the action posted for Ox's, you would have seen that he will intercept the 1st Gnoll going for Erin... (assuming the flanking trap works). Of course, If Erin takes a different path and does not come close to Ox, then who knows how this will turn out!!

I though the image I provided to support the plan was clear enough...
I submit that an image is not worth a thousand words after all...! :P

{in o-24} Erin burps real loud and seems to fall on her behind, rolling over and stand up again...

OOC: Erin has AC 15 and in defensive stance +2 dodge bonus to AC or use Total Defence:
Spoiler: show
Total Defense
You can defend yourself as a standard action. You get a +4 dodge bonus to your AC for 1 round. Your AC improves at the start of this action. You can’t combine total defense with fighting defensively or with the benefit of the Combat Expertise feat (since both of those require you to declare an attack or full attack). You can’t make attacks of opportunity while using total defense

Erin can hold up for some time. (i guess enough for you guys to enter the battle at o-24 when those buggers reach me...)

Round 2
    Initiative:
  1. Kroft Gypsum
  2. Ox
  3. Laron Jilliet
  4. Elisandra
  5. Simi
  6. Erin Ookapala
  7. Gnoll
Everyone delays for Erin to draw the gnolls closer. Ox has a readied action. Kroft might have a readied action.
Arpat wrote:Erin stumbles again "oh lloookie 4 ubly reewy ubly gwools" and ends up in p24
On that spot she turns around and waves with her dagger to the gnolls sounding a funny laugh to the gnolls " cobe on you HIK foobels, i han bake you!" she simulates that she throws up...

Erin prepares for the attack and keeps her second dagger concealed in her hand... ready to strike at the first enemy that reaches her.

Erin plays her part out to the fullest drawing the gnolls in for the kill.

G3 rushes in not seeing Ox lurking behind the low wall. (Your hide just barely beat his spot)
As G1, 2, and 4 are rushing in, Ox's attack is triggered by G3 being the first in reach. Ox adjusts himself to not have the wall offer the gnoll any cover and gain the surprise he hoped for. Attack/Damage vs Gnoll FF (1d20+4=20, 2d6+4=12) In typical Ox fashion, the gnoll falls in two halves as the large battleaxe cleaves left collar bone, shoulder blade, spine, right lower ribs and kidney in near perfect halves. (G3 Dead)

G1, 2, 4 each come in seeing Ox felling their own and focus on this new threat. Attack/Damage vs Ox (1d20+3=16, 1d8+3=9, 1d20+3=21, 1d8+3=5, 1d20+3=17, 1d8+3=6) Only G2 is able to inflict any damage on Ox though as it skewers him in the right thigh. (Ox -5hp)

    Initiative:
  1. Erin Ookapala
  2. Ox
  3. Gnoll
  4. Kroft Gypsum
  5. Laron Jilliet
  6. Elisandra
  7. Simi
 OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
Will Kroft continue with his posted action? Be sure to look at the map and knowing what you're committing to. All gnolls are in melee. Eli is at L27 for this round. I just forgot to put her there for the other map.
    Current Damage:
  • Ox -5

Trying to ignore the pain of his wound, Ox swings at Gnoll #1 (1d20+6=20, 2d6+6=12) then moves 5' to P26 to take its place (if it falls) to make room for his companions.

Kroft holds off moving for just a moment, allow Ox to take down one of the enemy (G1) and move into its position. He then moves around the wall,, taking the spot Ox just vacated, stabbing at Gnoll 4 with his rapier.
Attack Gnoll 4, damage (1d20+4=15, 1d6+2=4)

G2 and 4 seeing Ox as a very serious threat turn their attention to him. Melee Attack/Damage vs Ox (1d20+3=21, 1d8+3=8, 1d20+3=22, 1d8+3=10) Both hit him with precise aiming inflicting finishing blows. Ox slumps to the ground. (OX Dying)

IF the gnoll is dead and the threath is over Erin jumps over to Ox to stabilise him and help him as good as she can until someone with skills help him.
If the gnoll isn't dead she attacks violently with her dagger "Die! evil beast!" she shouts and with a loud voice "Help Ox! he is badly wounded!"

Ox's eyes flutters opens as he regains consciousness after that 3rd healing

Did I fall asleep? He asks, a wide grin on his face. (joke for those watching DollHouse)
Thank you, he says to Elisandra, for her healing magics

A potion? yeah that sounds like a good idea, he says (Gulping a CLW potion (1d8+1=6)) More wounds heal.

Well, as I don't see any other gnolls around, it means the plan worked perfectly! Excellent job at luring them Erin!! Now we can hide the bodies away so that they are not discovered too soon... He grins.

Do we return to base, or ambush another group? He asks.
