Mirena opens the grate in the floor and Gratchl and Domasa move stealthily down the stairs. When they report finding nothing obviously dangerous, the rest of the party follows them down the stairs.

The stairs descend to a hallway that opens into a large room. The room is lit by everburning torches and there is a set of double doors on the opposite wall, to the south. Otherwise the room is entirely barren except for a large bronze plaque affixed to the east wall. The plaque is inscribed with unfamiliar runes similar to those on the plaque above the throne upstairs.

Hella carefully approaches the bronze plaque and touches it, using her comprehend languages spell to tell everyone what it says.

After approaching the plaque and running her fingers over it, Hela relays what it says, “Be ye full of wit, and wise in ways of words? If not, turn back, for the way shall be doubly, nay, triply difficult. If ye are able to answer the questions asked of ye, the way shall not be difficult. But if ye are unable to solve these simple riddles, woe shall befall ye in each step ye take.”

When Hela has finished reading the message, a hundred Magic Mouths appear on the walls of the chamber. They all speak at once. Everyone hears what they are saying as if it were in their own native tongue. There are so many of them speaking that it is difficult to sort out the words. With a little concentration, however, eventually four distinct messages can be made out:

“ Return from whence you came! ”
“ Go forward bravely! ”
“ You will die slowly whether you go forward or back! ”
“ Stay here and argue about your next course of action! ”

After a few moments of this cacophonous shouting, the mouths finally grow silent and disappear.

Volgen growls, “These halls be made of madness...”

Then moving along the wall closest to her, Gratchl will make her way up to the doors. Each step she will check for traps along the wall and floor (looking up as well) taking as much time as needed. Once she gets to the first door she will check that over and then listen and see if there is any crack or keyhole to look through. She will keep in the shadows and close to the walls as possible while doing this.

OUT-OF-CHARACTER:    Not sure what or how many rolls you will need, so I will trust you with the rolls, unless you would like me to make them. If so just let me know the number and types needed.

Gratchl moves across the room. She finds no traps in the room or on the door. Listening at the door, she hears nothing.

Domasa will follow the little creature not letting her out of her sight. “I am not letting you alone sorry my friend.”

Mire walks up to the door and tries to open it.

Straia warily follows behind Mire to the door......

Mire will Bumb into Domasa and she will go Visible. “Hold do not open the door just yet. let our little friend here do what she can do best and check the door before we open it.” Domasa will then go back invisible

Mire rolls her eyes, but lets Gratchl check the door over first.

Gratchl moves across the room. She finds no traps in the room or on the door. Listening at the door, she hears nothing.

“I stand corrected Mire, Gratchl has already checked the door. it might be wise to let us who can see in the dark go first. this way the light is not a target. We might also think about what the Words mean. Words have a lot of power.”

“Words are just words.” Mire then opens the door.

Mirena opens the door to reveal a short corridor leading to another set of double doors. Gratchl searches the corridor and the new set of doors for traps, but finds none.

After Gratchl searches everywhere she will say “"Hide light, then we go in."” Once the light is hidden she will open the door to explore past the new doors.

Straia puts the head of her Morningstar in the folds of her cloak, rapping it several times...“Gratchl...Is that dark enough?”

When it grows dark an audible growl comes from Volgen.

Straia hides her morningstar. This makes it slightly darker here, given that the room 10 feet behind the party is lit with everburning torches. Still, this is as dark as it's going to get in the short corridor, so Gratchl opens the doors to reveal a room with dimension identical to the one behind the group. The contents, however, are different. The walls of this room are covered with murals depicting a great battle fought between dwarves and orcs. There is one particularly large painting of a dwarf's face on the east wall and a large orc's face on the west wall.

Domasa will use Detect Magic in this room. Also will Back up Gratchl on any search check

Gratchl will wait a moment and then go into the room sticking close to the walls initially and then after initial search will check out the rest of the room. The search will be in a clockwise manner.

Volgen, always having keen hearing, focuses more on that sense to attempt to detect any danger ahead while at making a passing glance around the room with all the mouths to ensure that nothing has come in from behind the group.

Domasa will fallow only a few steps behind Gratchl helping her search to the est she can.

Hella hangs near the back of the group at all times, preferring others to do the scouting.

Straia doesn’t like moving from the lighted area into darkness of the other room and strains hard to see anything, while trying to use her other senses to compensate for the darkness.

Gratchl and Domasa make a thorough search of the room. They find nothing, but Domasa does detect magic on the east and west walls. The nature of the magic (illusion) might make her suspect more magic mouths that have yet to be triggered...

In the corridor leading to the room, Volgen hears nothing unusual and no one else detects anything odd.

Hela enters the room and carefully touches the dwarven face. If nothing happens she does the same to the orc face.

Straia grumbles something about the darkness as she uncovers the head to her Morningstar and steps into the room under lighted conditions hoping to see something useful...“Perhaps if we shead some light on it, it may tell up more” As Straia holds her Mornigstar high to light the room.
