What's next?

Geographically, Perearth is a world with some remarkable similarities to our own. But the similarities end there.

What's next?

Postby patransom » Thu May 04, 2006 7:29 pm

[New thread in an effort to motivate you folks to start planning the party's next move]

Sunny lies comfortably unconscious next to the defeated huge zombie corpse. Jase kneels next to him, having just completed his first aid efforts. Kolan has moved away to examine the small corridor leading off to the east.

The rest of you?

"He's still hurt, but he'll recover." Jase says, turning to his other traveling companions. "Can anyone heal him? If not, I suggest we rest here until Sunny is well enough to walk again."

In here would be easier to deal with then the outer room. I have no talent for healing, unfortunately.

What time of day is it now, still early right?

It hasn't been more than a couple of hours since you last slept.

Oops, I meant rest (which includes sleeping when the day moves on).

Kolan looks through Sunny's stuff and sees if he can find anything that looks like something he might have seen his mom use to treat wounds magically.

Begins poking and prodding at the dead warrior to see if he has anything of value on his now.... dead? person. And to see if there was anything non-magical about his reanimation, and if there was, any visible sign.

[DM note: I am playing Caladar for the time being]

Caladar, you notice, has been intently walking around his corner of the room, pausing every so often to pick things up from the floor.

He stops now that you all seem to be looking at him for input on your plan. "I guess this room is as good a place as any to defend while we wait for Sunny to recover his strength. I certainly don't want to carry him around while we explore the rest of this place."

"I don't know how long Tana's torch is going to last, though, and it could get rather dark in here. I saw some firewood at the top of the rope. I could go get it, if someone will stay at the bottom and watch. I don't want any suprises when I come down."

I can stand watch at the bottom of the rope. Do I need to leave the torch here for those staying with Sunny? Or do we have anything torch we can light for a bit to provide light in here?

Nods and moves towards the hall, kama in one hand torch in the other.

Alright Caladar, let's go then.

Caladar follows Tana down the hall. "When we get there, don't stand right under the rope. I plan on dropping the firewood down the shaft."

Nods and moves with Caladar to the shaft, standing to one side as she holds the torch lifted so that as much light as possible can shine up the shaft.

Alright, up you go then.

Keeps her kama ready and alternates watching around the area and keeping an eye for falling firewood.

Actually, you notice once you get there that there's a bit of light coming from the shaft itself.

Caladar scurries up the rope and in a few moments 5 or 6 hunks of wood fall to the floor at the bottom. The wood looks like its been a bit scorched already, but there's still plenty left to start a small fire.

Caladar returns, sliding back down the rope, and gathers the wood in his arms, nodding to Tana to follow him back to the altar room.

Returning to the room, he dumps the wood in a pile near the door. "Anyone have flint and steel to light this stuff?"

I do, or we could try using the torch since it's still lit.

Attempts to use the torch to light the wood after moving it so that people can get around it. If that doesn't work pull out flint and steel to light the wood.

I can produce flame... but I fear that I would just incinerate it, rather than simply light it on fire.

Sunny lies there and- no matter what you tell him later - doesn't snore a bit.

Suprisingly, the charred wood lights easily using the torch. If you care about your location while resting/waiting, use the map above to identify it - Tana's in charge of the location of the fire. Any other actions you want to take are fine, too.

The fire is at O15, Tana is at P16 to start with keeping a watch down the hall.

I'll keep a watch for now.

Caladar adds, "I can keep watch, too, if any of you decide on serious rest. I'm not tired at all. Climbing up and down a rope isn't all that strenous."

Lorn curls up and goes to sleep while the rest of you stand watch. Caladar's method of standing watch, you notice, involves pacing around the room, pausing every so often to pick things up off the floor.

Hours and hours pass and you suspect it's getting towards evening as the fire is begining to burn out. Then, finally, Sunny stirs and comes out of his coma, just at the same time as Lorn wakes up from his rest.

Sunny prays a bit - (cure light wounds) and checks out what was causing him so much pain in his back....

Ouch. Remind me not to try to parry a morning star with a rapier again. What did I miss? Anyone else need healing? How long have I been down?

Oh - and Jase - aren't you glad I kept you from touching that altar? chuckle. You never know what's alive down here. Too bad I won't have another comprehend spell till tomorrow. - I'd really like to know what those symbols say.

Upon awakening, Lorn checks on Bronin, gives the customary nods of thanks for watching, and opens his spellbook, and begins readying a few new spells, sometimes standing and chanting, moving about, or otherwise preparing his spells for casting.

After preparing, he remembers the his back pain, and looks for what he slept on that caused him discomfort.

Moving around the room a bit, Lorn begins picking up some shiny objects off the floor, and shuffling his feet to kick up any he might have missed while ignoring Jase's comment.
