 OUT-OF-CHARACTER:
I just need an action from Ryder as Durmisht and Mak together will subdue, but not kill the creature.

Is this how Life Link works or is this some other feature of an Oracle. I thought the healing happened on the Oracle's turn, not when the damage occurs?

Durmisht heals 5 HP and Yiri takes 5 Hp. Yiri casts Cure Light Wounds on herself.

    Round 3
  1. Malfeshnekor <--- Action Taken
  2. Vi <--- Action Taken
  3. Carter <--- Action Taken
  4. Ryder <--- Full Action Taken
  5. Mak <--- Action Taken
  6. Durmisht <--- Action Taken
  7. Yiri <--- Full Action
The bargest refocuses its rage on durmisht and nearly kills him in it's blind fury and it bites into him and rends him with both claws. It's clear to everyone, just one good hit and this battle is over.
Vi delays her attack, planning to finish the bargest off with another magic missile. And then taunt everyone for their incompetence... Carter Jenkins cracks his whip at the barghest, hoping to dispatch it. He's clearly not having much luck with his whip. While Ryder seems to be contemplating his action, Mak continues his assault on the creature, combining a Flurry of Blows with his Ki Strikes. Mak's first strike misses, but his second strike leaves the bargest seeing stars. Durmisht glances at the blood pouring from his wounds and says My turn again. before unleashing another blow the opens the bargest's chest and drops him to the cold stone floor. His body twitches as he continues to bleed out from the massive wounds. Durmisht heals 5 HP and Yiri takes 5 Hp. Yiri casts Cure Light Wounds on herself.

For good measure, Mak will do another flurry of blows, making sure the creature is dead.

Darn thing! he exclaims
I wonder what it was doing in this room... any ideas!?

Ryder peers down upon it's remains, holding his spear high and ready to run it through if need be.
Perhaps it was a guardian. Of treasure...or something worse than itself.

Durmisht seems to visibly deflate, his numerous wounds slicking his body with blood. He sits down next to the creature and says Give me a few minutes. I'm tired as hell.

Carter Jenkins coils his whip before securing it at his waist. Once that task is complete, the human bard casts Detect Magic and begins to scan the room.

 Experience Award
For defeating the bogart each of you earn 533 EXP. A search of the room reveals a few dozen candles in the two northern corners (33 in all) each worth 25 gold. With suspicions heightened regarding a reason for this creature to be here, some of you conduct a thorough search of the room as the bargest bleeds out and dies. Along the south wall two alcoves are uncovered. Both are empty, or thought to be until a small coffer of exquisite craftsmanship is found hidden on a shelf in one of them. The coffer opens easily enough. Within is a ring radiating a moderate evocation aura. Further study reveals this ring to be a Force Shield ring, Though anyone who ends up wearing it so finds it's not like any other force shield ring. The coffer is worth 100 gold.

Nothing appears to be of any note regarding the column of fire and there is nothing of interest on the bargest. A return to the North room reveals the image still repeating the same message and the east room holds nothing new to find.

While he still has his spell functioning, Carter Jenkins will examine the ring to determine what makes it different than a typical Force Shield Ring.

For all his effort in examining the ring, he finds that putting it on and activating it reveals the difference. At about the size of a heavy shield, the distinctive difference is that this rings produces a shield in the shape of a seven pointed star. A theme seems to be forming here.

Once the creature has died, and the group has found there's no further threat, the find it time to do something, but what? There's still that unknown mystery thing behind the heavily locked door. There's also some other places not yet yet explored after reconsidering the maps.

Carter Jenkins holds out the ring to his companions, asking them as he does so, "Who wants or needs this ring? As for me, let's finish exploring this place. Did you want to make another attempt at unlocking the door?"

I vote to go to the 'other' places we have not explored
As for the Ring, it would be most useful to the meat shields (Durm, Mak, Ryder) - we could assign it randomly (highest roll on 1d20?) as I don't think we have many rings at this time.. ?

Yiri, I carry a large wooden shield already, and though a ring with the same effect would be nice, I defer to the group to decide on its best owner.

At the beginning of Yiri's first turn after combat she will once again take 5 hp damage, healing Durmisht for 5 hp, then dismiss the life-link. She steps up to Durmisht and casts Cure Moderate Wounds,

Yiri, As for where we go next, I would prefer we finish our business here so we don't need to return. Yet it would be foolish to wontonly continue should our health be over-sapped.

I already where one ring of protection not to mention I carry a shield as well. It would do someone else more good than it would me, Ryder says, passing up his claim on the newly found magical ring. I too believe we should finish exploring the complex so as not to leave anything to chance and ensure we have thoroughly rooted out any threats herein.

So we have D6, D7 and D8 left to investigate ( I think there was that big squishy thing there)
I'm not sure about other levels (i.e. where stairs go up or down)...

And the big red "blacked" out area to the west of E6. Vi votes for going there.

I think this level is the bottom of all the stairs we've found so far, right?

Referring to a rough map of the rooms covered, you return back to the room in which you first entered by way of the stairs and make a thorough search. For all your efforts you uncover nothing, but based on the layout above and the rooms covered on this floor, you believe that there is another room in the southwest section. Your only option is to return to the crypt where Dregs was lost. Taking your time, you find that a center alcove on the west wall possesses a false back wall. Careful manipulation eventually allows you to open the panel.

The panel opens freely on its own, sliding into the side wall to your left. Ahead of you is a twenty five feet long passage with two passages from the right. The furthest passage appears to have steps descending to a lower floor.

Having no light, Durmisht hands Mak his. Mak enters the hall and finds that both the passages leading right descend a flight of stairs about ten feet, both coming to a short landing. One terminates abruptly at a closed door and the second turns sharply to his left.
