Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Cyrius will continue trying to climb the rockslide towards 0627. (Apparently, it will take him another three rounds to make it).

Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Marcus would attempt to use a skill to identify the creatures and take a shot at C1.

Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
[ooc]well... super. I'll post an action for tex after the quick validation.[/ooc]
Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Marcus recognizes the creatures and provides the following information: “The creatures are chokers. Their long tentacles are particularly well-suited to reaching out and strangling people. They are also extremely quick-moving.” [In game terms: they have reach and improved grab and they get an extra move action each round]
Round 1 Begins
Worrell realizes that he will not be able to scale that pile of rubble so he drops his sword and shield and draws his bow. Then, he launches an arrow that embeds itself in the first creature [12 hp damage]
Choker 1 lashes out at Tex with its tentacle-arms. It manages to slap him once, but does not succeed in its attempt to grab hold of the dwarf [5 hp damage, but not grappled]
Choker 2 cannot make contact with Prost at all [uncanny dodge saves his bacon]

Like everywhere you've been so far, the entire floor of the cavern is difficult terrain. Ascending or moving around on the rock pile requires a DC10 Acrobatics (balance) check at half speed (DC15 if moving at full speed). From the top of the rock pile, it's a relatively easy (DC15) climb 10 feet up and reach the corners of the ledge at 0227 or 0628. |

Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Lola will step back to solid ground since she was not high up on the pile and put away her sword and draw and load crossbow and be ready to attack next round.
Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Round 1 Continues
Marcus takes a rather nice shot at C1 and kills the creature! Then he reloads.
With Marcus' identification of the creatures, Cyrius moves to where he has a clear shot. Flinging his mind blade at Choker #2, he badly wounds the creature [12 hp damage].
Prost withdraws down the rock pile away from the remaining creature.
Tex also withdraws.
Lola steps just a little bit back to solid ground, puts away her sword, drops the sunrod, and draws her crossbow.
Round 2 Begins
Worrell fires his bow at the remaining creature, plugging it through the neck and killing it!
From overhead comes a blood-curdling shriek. Prost, Tex, Lola, and Cyrius turn in time to see a humanoid figure leap from the tunnel overhead and come crashing to the ground. The creature twists in midair so that the damage from the fall is lessened, but still ends up prone next to Tex and Lola [Acrobatics check made; 6 hp nonlethal from the last 10 feet]. Now that the figure is on the ground, you can see that the creature is a female grimlock in studded leather, bearing a dagger in each hand, and with an evilly crazed expression on her face.

[talk]Somebody keep an eye on the chokers,[/talk] Cyrius declares as he materializes his mind blade in its longsword configuration (a move action) and advances to 0525 (another move action). He won't get an ordinary attack this round, but should get an attack-of-opportunity if the grimlock (grimlockess?) stands up.

Round 2 Continues
Marcus delays to allow his companions to deal with the grimitch [I like that term for this female grimlock in particular; brownie points for Cyrius].
“Somebody keep an eye on the chokers,” Cyrius declares as he materializes his mind blade in its longsword configuration and advances to next to the grimitch.
Prost moves forward, dropping his crossbow, and drawing his rapier. He then stabs the prone Grimitch [5 hp damage; unfortunately Tex has a bow in hand at the time Prost attacks, so there's no flanking and no sneak attack this round].
Tex holds his bow in his off hand, draws his battleaxe, and takes a swipe at the prone creature. He misses [I did not have you move, since Prost provides you a flank and Worrel, with a bow still in hand at this time, does not yet].
Lola pulls our her sword and attacks the grimitch, dealing a minor flesh wound [2 hp].
Round 3 Begins
Worrel drops his bow as he stoops to pick up the longsword that he dropped on the floor. As he picks up his sword, the grimitch slashes him across the ankle with a dagger [AoO hits for 11 hp damage]. Feeling the pain of this attack, Worrel notes that, in spite of the small size of her blades, the creature is extraordinarily strong as uses them to good effect. With his sword now in hand, he counterattacks the grimitch [7 hp damage].
Seemingly unconcerned with her personal safety, the grimitch stands up, proving an opening for each party member to stab at her. Cyrius misses. Prost hits [this time the sneak attack applies, so 10 hp total, including 2 bleed]. Tex hits [8 hp damage]. Lola misses. Worrel hits [11 hp damage]. With Worrel being the most recent to stab her, the grimitch turns her dagger on him, stabbing him in return [11 hp damage]
