Round 3 Continues

Prost moves into the corridor. He finds that, although he has a line of sight to the goblin boss, the shot is far from clear (i.e., the boss has cover), so he holds his fire.

Lola steps into position, then bursts out a healing channel energy [all party members healed 5 hp].

Seeing the congestion at the entrance to the room, and the difficulty of movement, Cyrius waits for the way to clear (1704 already taken by Prost).

Managing to keep his feet even in the grease [made acrobatics check], Worrel moves past the goblin, ignoring its feeble excuse for a crossbow, to close with the leader of these evil humanoids. Once closed with the boss, Worrel makes a mighty swing with hsi longsword. Everyone hears a grisly snick as Worrel's chop lands, although the goblin leader somehow remains standing [16 hp damage].

Greatful for the healing, Marcus let's loose an electric ray at G1. Unfortunately, his shot just barely misses.

Round 4 Begins

Although Worrel is now engaged with the goblin boss, Tex is undeterred and stubbornly continues to shoot into the melee [rapid shot, point blank shot, precise shot]. Although his first shot goes awry, Tex demonstrates his grit and manages to pull off a flawless second shot from a bad angle, felling the foe with a victorious blow [5 hp damage kills the goblin boss]. Buoyed by his success, Tex moves into the grease in an attempt to make room for the others behind him. He manages to remain standing [made acrobatics check].

G1 shoots at Worrel, but his bolt bounces off the paladin's armor.

G2 takes aim at Marcus. Although the missile follows an unexpected trajectory, it strikes its intended target as though it meant to do so all along [3 hp damage].

Round 4 Continues

Prost moves into the greasy room. Although he moves at full speed, he's agile enough to avoid any hindrance by the grease [made Acrobatics check by greater than 5]. From right in front of G2, he lets a bullet fly. His shot causes something in the goblin's body to splinter and break. This foe will die slowly [7 hp damage kills G2].

Lola lets loose another channel energy [everyone except Worrel is healed 12 hp].

Gathering that the fight in the next chamber is going well, Cyrius moves back into the outer chamber and watches the other two entrances in case something elects to attack from there.

Worrel reverses course to engage the goblin that he passed. He chops with his sword, again, to dispatch the foul humanoid, but the goblin avoids the blow.

Marcus targets the only goblin still standing with another electric ray. The blast lands with an almost caressing hiss, severing existence from the creature's body [Crit confirmed, 11 hp damage kills G1].

Combat Ends

As everyone catches their breath, Marcus' pit disappears, though the grease seems likely to linger for a while.

[ooc]Yes, Lola has a second level spell (Bull's Strength) left to drop for CMW. For reference, here are her memorized spells with those used crossed off (after casting CMW on Worrel just now):

Tex helps Prost search the room. Together they find two secret doors (which they are standing next on the map: north wall at 1302 and east wall at 1103) and a hidden hollow in the floor. Inside the hollow, they find the following:

• 300 gold pieces
• a pair of crystal lenses

Also on the bodies of the goblins they find the following:

• 2 potions
• 5 sunrods
• A necklace with two red beads
• A wand
• A long feather in the shape of a coil
• 4 small masterwork light crossbows
• 4 small suits of masterwork studded leather armor
• 4 vials of alchemist's fire
• 28 more gold pieces
• 51 crossbow bolts
• Some dirty bedrolls, crates of food, and a barrel of water.

The searching takes long enough that the grease spell disappears.

Lola will pick up the lense and hold them up to her eyes, not putting them on, put looking through them and then around the room trying to see if things look different. She will make sure to stand near anyone detecting magic so the aura may show them if the lenses are magical.

Lola heals Worrel again [healed 20 hp]

Worrel detects evil, scanning the area, and the recovered equipment. None of the equipment has an evil aura, but somewhere to the north, beyond the secret door, he notes an aura of moderate strength evil. Because it's beyond the door, he cannot pinpoint its location, though he knows it must be within 60 feet. He moves next to the door to keep watch.

Marcus casts detect magic and studies the equipment. He sees that the following are magical, although he is able to determine the properties of only some of them (I rolled kind of badly for your spellcraft checks):

• Eyes of the Eagle (Lola is inspecting)
• A wand of magic missile with 38 charges remaining
• An Elixir of Vision
• Another potion (faint illusion, but skill check to identify failed)
• A necklace with two red beads (moderate evocation, but skill check to identify failed)
• A long feather in the shape of a coil (strong conjuration, but skill check to identify failed)

The rest is nonmagical:

• 328 gold pieces
• 5 sunrods (Cyrius claimed one)
• 4 small masterwork light crossbows
• 4 small suits of masterwork studded leather armor
• 4 vials of alchemist's fire
• 51 crossbow bolts (Cyrius claimed 8)
• Some dirty bedrolls, crates of food, and a barrel of water.

Lola tests out the Eyes of the Eagle and confirms that they do what Marcus claims: help her to see more better.
