Since the grimlocks are presumed to now be behind them, Worrell brings up the rear of the party. Besides, finding and disarming traps would not be considered his forte. To protect himself, he secures his bow and carries his shield on his arm.

Tex will return his battleaxe to his belt, and ready an arrow while watching the tunnel.

With the two moving to protect our backs, Lola moves to the middle of the party with her crossbow loaded and ready to fire either direction, provided she has a clean shot.

Prost makes his way back over the rope bridge and enters the tunnel in the wall. He discovers that, after winding around a bit, the tunnel does indeed connect to the previous chamber (see the maps below). He does a thorough search and finds the tunnel littered with bones, what appear to be grimlock droppings, and other scraps. From this evidence and the musty smell, he suspects the crazed female grimlock must have made this cramped passage her home for quite some time. His search, however, turns up nothing of value. Therefore, Prost returns to the rest of the party and reports his findings.

Prost returns to the group informing them of what he found... [talk]Nothing! Let's go...[/talk] Prost moves quietly to front, just on the edge of shadow and darkness ready to move on.

Tex moves along in the middle, arrow knocked, ready to fire.

Prost leads the way up the tunnel, moving in advance of the others at the edge of the light provided by the sunrod.

The tunnel narrows as it ascends, forcing the party into single file. The party travels perhaps 100 feet until, finally, Prost rounds a corner to see that the tunnel opens into a larger chamber.

Barely ten feet past where the tunnel enters the larger chamber, the cavern floor rises up into a nearly vertical slope. At the top of this sharp rise (marked by the dashed purple line on the map), Prost can see two grimlocks. They hold longspears and javelins. Although their attention is clearly on the tunnel where he lurks, they do not seem to be aware of Prost... yet...

The rest of the party doesn't fit on the map yet, but they are behind Cyrius in the following order: Tex Lola Marcus Worrel When/if you get into the chamber, you'll see more of the purple dashed contour lines on the map. These represent steep slopes. Ascending these slopes (e.g., crossing from 1409 to 1509) requires 4 squares of movement, plus one hand free and a DC5 climb check.

Prost upon seeing the two grimlocks, motions for the others to stop. He then sneaks back to the others tells them that he has spotted two grimlock guards, how they are equipped and that they seem to be watching the tunnel they are coming up.[whisper]If Tex and were to sneak back up there we may be able to get off a ranged attack without them seeing us[/whisper] Prost continues to tell the others that they are about 50' down the tunnel and that he believes they didn't spot him

Prost, Tex, and Cyrius creep up the corridor to get into range of the grimlocks. Unfortunately, Tex's creeping is more like crashing as he kicks over some loose stones as he reaches his destination. The grimlocks respond to the noise with grunts. These grunts are answered by more grunts from within the room. Clearly, there are more than two grimlocks here.

Readied Actions:

G1 and G2 fling their javelins at Tex. Or, more correctly, they fling them in the general direction of Tex, since only one of them lands anywhere near him.

Mea culpa, I forgot to specify that Cyrius would be using his MW light crossbow rather than his mind blade (and then I used the mind blade rapier bonus, so he actually rolled a 23). As stated, he'll wait for Texudus and Evan to shoot and move forward, then move up and shoot at whichever grimlock seems the more wounded; he'll have tucked the sunrod into his belt.

From the sounds of things, there are more than just a couple grimlocks in front of the party. The paladin moves ahead of Marcus and Lola, stowing his longbow as he moves. Once he is past the pair, Worrell readies his shield.
