Shorthand treasure symbols (pp, cp, ect...) [1.90]

I'm not sure if this is a bug, or I'm just not getting it. So I'm starting in the help desk area first.
When I enter:
Platinum$12 it correctly coverts it to 120 value.
However, when I enter:
pp$12, it keeps it at 12 value.
The same is true for all the shorthand codes in the options tab (cp, sp). I do have macros enabled.
Am I doing something wrong?
