Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Marcus is waiting for the right moment to get this guy under control.
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
The man watches Lola walk away. He waves his arms a bit as if trying to get up from his seated position to follow her, but doesn't actually stand. Eventually, he turns and looks back over the lake, taking a swig from his bottle.

I rolled a rather poor bluff check for Lola, which means drunkenness wins out over lust in this case. You might need a different approach to engage this guy and find out what he knows... |

Lola walks all the way back, and gets her crossbow back. “"Not interested in me, and no I will not flash him. What next? He is so drunk I am not sure he will be a good one to talk to anyway."”

Disappointed in this guys drunken state, Rice responds to Lola, “You gave it a good go. He's too drunk to know. I agree that he may indeed be too drunk to answer questions, but if we can lure him someplace secluded, we might be able to wait it out as he sobers up.
What do you think if we start arguing over gambling, and expressing a need for another player? You think he might bite? otherwise, I say while the iron's hot, we get him and knock him out. Take him somewhere, abandoned preferred, and interrogate him.”

“Subterfuge seems to have failed us,” Cyrius opines. “I vote we overpower him, take him somewhere and wait for him to sober up, then question him. Blindfold him so he can't see us, let him go afterwards. Anybody got a sleep spell or something to knock him out?”

Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
“Then we take him by force. Lola, getting at him with as little resistance as possible would benefit us all for keeping anyone from noticing. We need your womanly wiles again to distract him as we approach. Edgar can get back into position. If he catches on to us approaching, use your knife to gain control without killing him and Edgar can be there in no time, as will we. Now I'm not saying you can't handle him, but we're nearby none-the-less.
I think the catch and release program works very well, but with Lola up front and personal, He's likely to recognize her should he see her later. It could mean trouble another day.”

Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
“Then perhaps Lola should stay out of sight and the rest of us handle it while masked,” Cyrius suggests. “While he may be too drunk to remember her -- difficult as that may be to imagine -- we can't take the chance, and considering his friends and employer, I think we should avoid making them our enemies if possible.”

“Agreed.” Marcus removes some cloth from a pocket and wraps it about his face and ties it. He makes sure that his vision is clear and comfortable.
He then draws the hood of his cape and his mace from his belt.
“Let's get it done.”

“If it will make it easier for us, then yes, by all means, fog him. Can you move it so we can maintain cover as we carry him off the dock?”
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Edgar will make a mask for himself as well, and wait be fore moving into position.

I am not sure if I can move the fog cloud, can I control it like that? |
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm

Sorry for the delay, I figured a map would help your planning, so I needed to put one together. The red "D" is your target, the drunk fellow. He sits at the end of the dock near the torch that lights the end, looking out over the water. Where you are, in the dark shaded area, is total darkness. There's no chance he'll see you there. Approaching into the area of shadowy illumination, the crosshatched shaded area that starts around row 13, will require a stealth check. If you approach into the torch-lit area, which has no shading and starts around row 7 or 6, he will certainly spot you if he turns around, but if he keeps looking out over the water, you might be able to reach him with a good stealth check. Fog cloud, once cast, cannot be moved. |

“I'm not stealthy enough to try sneaking up. How about casting the fog to the side of the pier, so we have better cover?”

“You know something, I think we're making too much of this. Let's just walk up to him. Maybe me and one other? Or, we just rush him. We walk up as close as the dark allows and rush him.
Oh! How about we make a commotion and drop something? Something like a purse or weapon? Make enough noise that he hears and sees what's dropped. He'll then likely come to see what was dropped. Then someone else hidden can ambush him.” Marcus seems excited at this idea.

Not even seeing that Edgar was beside him, Marcus looks startled by his sudden appearance. “Yes, that you certainly are.” He smiles. “What do you think on all this Edgar? Do you feel you could creep up unnoticed and knock him out?”
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm

Without a special ability like the assassin's death attack, there's no certain way to knock him out with one blow. If you are successful in sneaking up on him, you could sneak attack him with your weapon, which risks killing him. You could sneak attack him with an unarmed strike, which would do nonlethal damage. It might be enough to knock him out, it might not... |
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm

You can deal non-lethal damage with an ordinary weapon by taking a -4 penalty to hit. If Edgar has a sap, he can use that without any penalty. |

[quote="CGM3"]You can deal non-lethal damage with an ordinary weapon by taking a -4 penalty to hit. If Edgar has a sap, he can use that without any penalty.[/quote] Correct, but per the rules for sneak attacks, he cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack, not even with the usual –4 penalty. He can do nonlethal sneak attack damage with a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (like a sap, whip, or an unarmed strike). Edgar does not have a sap or a whip. So, to be very precise about his options: - Make an attack with his sickle or bow, dealing lethal damage and lethal sneak attack damage - Make an unarmed strike attack, dealing nonlethal damage and nonlethal sneak attack damage - Make an attack with his sickle or bow at -4, dealing nonlethal damage and no sneak attack damage |
