Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Looking back, and realizing Edgar's no longer where he used to be, Marcus shrugs. “Could have worked I think.” He then waits to see how it goes.
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
He's very sneaky, and quick too.

I just need a decision from Edgar about which approach he's going to take to incapacitate the man, in light of this post. |

Sorry i have been busy looking for a job. i will sneak attack unarmed nonleathal. |
attack w/ flank, damage, sneak attack damage. (1d20+8=22, 1d3+2=5, 2d6=10)
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
The rest of the party moves forward a bit and watches as Edgar creeps up behind the drunk. The man remains completely unaware of Edgar's presence until the tiefling bops him on the head with his fist. This does some serious (nonlethal) damage and the man sways a bit, but does not collapse unconscious. Instead, he drops his bottle in the lake and whips his head around to look at Edgar, yelling Oooow! What the #$@%!!!!! The man starts to react with surprising agility and Cyrius realizes he's the only one who's going to have a chance to do anything before the plan goes awry...

Edgar: according to my calculations, your attack roll should have been at +4 (+2 base, +2 strength, and there's no flanking just because someone's unaware of you; you need someone on the other side). You still hit, though. Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Cyrius double moves to 0502, giving Edgar the opportunity to flank Todrick next turn. Unfortunately, this means he cannot manifest his mind blade this turn.

Yes, I could have activated the mind blade and thrown it at Todrick, or tried bull rushing him to knock him into the lake, but the intent here is to capture and interrogate. |

Is Cyrius drawing a weapon as he moves? Because otherwise he will not threaten Todrick and, therefore, not provide flanking. |

Good point. He'll draw his dagger as he moves.patransom wrote:

Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Round 1 Begins
Cyrius sprints to the end of the dock, drawing his dagger as he goes.
Cursing about his lost bottle and the lump forming on his head, Todrick grabs his polearm and staggers to his feet. Cyrius takes the opportunity to attempt to clock the man with the pommel of his dagger, but misses. [I assumed, since you went to all the trouble to avoid the mind blade, that you wanted to try a nonlethal AoO as well. I did not give Edgar an AoO because he is currently unarmed.]

Marcus readies his mace and prepares to charge the drunk should the two there have more trouble getting him under control.
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Cyrius will manifest his mind blade, then fight defensively without making an attack. (The idea as that, as the more obvious opponent, he will be the target of Todrick's attack, allowing Edgar to shift into flanking positon for another non-lethal attack.)

Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Round 1 Continues
Tex keeps an eye on goings on at the end of the dock, ready to send an arrow into the drunk if he starts to yell.
Edgar moves around behind Todrick and attempts to punch him in the back of the head. While this would normally leave Edgar open to an attack with the man's weapon, Todrick's pole arm is too unwieldy to bring to bear. So, Edgar's punch lands and knocks Todrick unconscious.
The area near the dock remains quiet. All the activity in town remains in the central square of the Vein, so it seems there are no passers by to notice the party's assault.

For the record: crits work in this campaign according to the standard rules. So Edgar's crit did not confirm, but the base damage was more than enough to knock Todrick out. Status Report: Edgar Frog - 10 hp damage Todrick the Drunk Guy - unconscious due to nonlethal pummeling |

Also, sneak attack damage is not multiplied when a critical hit is made. Otherwise we'd all be running rogues wielding rapiers with the Improved Critical (rapier) feat! |

Rice approaches the end of the dock and has a look at the fellow. “Let's tie him up and bring him someplace quiet.” Rice will then begin removing any and all weapons and items from the man's person and taking stock of what he has.

“You know the city better than i.”
Re: [Active Thread] The Land Family Farm
Tex looks around and doesn't spot anyone nearby who might have noticed the party's illicit activities. Marcus searches the unconscious man and discovers that, in addition to his banded mail and very nice pole arm (a guisarme), he has three potions, a very fine cloak, and 41 gold pieces (he's rich, apparently!).
The discussion turn to what to do with the unconscious man. Those of you who saw how hard Edgar punched him in the head realize he's going to be out for quite a while. The only empty building you can think of is the dilapidated Land family farmhouse outside of town. You know there's no owlbear there any more. Another option is the rooms each of you (except Edgar, who just got here) have been renting at the Able Carter Coaching Inn, just around the corner (#21 on the map). Of course, people will see you bringing the man into your rooms there, so some explanation might be required there.

“Not!” says Marcus in response to using the inn.
“That's asking for trouble and creating witnesses. We return to the farm house or we do it here, or we kill him.”

Marcus will gather up all his gear, the 41 gold, the cloak, the potions, and the polearm. He's not interested in undressing the man. “Let's get going.” He then hands an even share of the gold to each of his partners, 8 gold a piece with him keeping the extra. To be easier for carrying, he dons the cloak and puts the potions in his pack.

Lola will pocket the money and plans to give it back to the guy once we are done with him (unless we kill him of, course - but that is not my first choice to do with him).
