Right so my dungeonmaster is pushing us to get TOS+
Am I correct in assuming that the sheet will not work with oppenoffice? Cause I'm not about to shell out 140$ just to be able to run a charsheet.
If it doesn work with openoffice, does it work with the free excell viewer (I'm guessing no again)

Unfortunately, Open Office is not Compatible with EXCEL's VBA (macros), which means TOS+ does not work with that application.cobaco wrote:Am I correct in assuming that the sheet will not work with oppenoffice? Cause I'm not about to shell out 140$ just to be able to run a charsheet.

The exact requirements are listed at the Top of the purchase page. As you can see, any version of excel starting with excel 2000 will function. This means you don't have to get the latest version at all... I suggest you can talk about this to your DM?

Re: Compatibility question
Since buying an older version from Microsoft at a discount is not an available option, and since the last 2 computers I bought did not come with MS-office (no they now come with a 30-day trial version, after which they want you to payup, same for anti-virus) that regretfully means that TOS+ is a complete non-starter for me.admin wrote: Unfortunately, Open Office is not Compatible with EXCEL's VBA (macros), which means TOS+ does not work with that application.

I suspect you will be running into this increasingly often considering that:
- if I walk into the local bestbuy or the like everything they sell has the same situation of not coming with any actual software (lots of trial versions nagging you to buy the actual software though, that they do come with)
- office software is now a commodity that can be had for free (from at least a halfdozen different sources, openoffice is just one, gnumeric an kspread are 2 others, then there's the growing number of online options, ...).
Anyways, best of luck, looks like I won't be buying TOS+

Re: Compatibility question
Another option is asking someone who goes to school. There's sites online where you can buy the software at discount also. Not sure if this can apply to older versions as well, but might be worth a try looking into.

It is reasonably contagious, i believe it's spread by a shock to the system upon viewing software pricing.
