Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Round 16 Continues
Worrel waits, biding his time until the grimlock is in sight, rather than approaching the edge of the pit.
Figuring he has some time before Grallak Kur climbs out of the pit -- and not willing to dare the treacherous edge -- Cyrius charges his mind blade with psychic energy.
Just trying anything, Lola calls a storm burst that targets Grallak Kur. She is rewarded when the stormy forces connect with the grimlock [8 hp nonlethal, plus GK is at -2 on attack rolls for one round]. She begins reloading her crossbow [It takes a full round to load a heavy crossbow; you can finish loading and fire next round, if you do nothing else]
Round 17 Begins
Tex fires again, but misses.
Prost, hurt and not willing to risk the pit, steps back from the edge and waits...
Marcus fires his crossbow at the chieftain again. He misses.
Shaking his head after the effects of Lola's storm burst, Grallak Kur decides not to try climbing out just now. Instead, he retrieves and drinks a potion. Some of his wounds are healed and he seems much healthier [Healed 5 hp, which heals a like amount of nonlethal damage at the same time]

Round 17 Continues
Worrel waits, continuing to bide his time until the grimlock is in sight, rather than approaching the edge of the pit.
Cyrius stands ready for Grallak Kur to emerge from the pit, at which point he will hurl his mind blade at the grimlock.
Lola finishes loading her crossbow and fires at Grallak Kur. Her bolt flies true, headed for an obvious chink the grimlock's armor, but at the last instant it is knocked aside by a burst of chaotic energy from the multi-hued field that surrounds the creature [Entropic shield can be really annoying].
Round 18 Begins
Tex fires again and misses again.
Prost waits for Grallak Kur to come out of the pit.
Marcus fires his crossbow at the chieftain again. He misses.
Grallak Kur attempts to climb out of the pit, then howls in frustration when he is able to make no progress [unbeknownst to you, one of his buff spells also just expired].

Assuming that Marcus informs the rest of the party that the pit is about to dissipate, and that the grimlock will be raised to the surface when it happens, Cyrius will delay until that occurs, then stride forward and swing at Grallak Kur.

Worrel stows his bow and bends down to pick up his shield, preparing to engage Grallak Kur when the pit expires.
Having heard from Marcus that the pit is about to dissipate, and that the grimlock will be raised to the surface when it happens, Cyrius delays...

Round 19 Begins
Tex fires again and misses again.
Prost stands ready and waits.
Marcus states to his companions, “We might have to wait out his magical protections. The pit is about to close.” As soon as he finishes this explanation, the pit does just that, bringing Grallak Kur back to the surface.
Cyrius strides forward and swings at Grallak Kur, missing.
Grallak Kur sneers at Cyrius, swiping at him with his axe, just narrowly missing. He the steps back into the relative safety of the cliff corner.

Lola considers jumping on Grallak Kur's back... [You could do all of 1d6 nonlethal to both him and yourself if you belly flopped on him. Alternatively, you could try for a grapple to cling to his back or a bull rush to knock him down. Any of these would give him an attack of opportunity']

Grallak Kur growls at Marcus, “You think to wait out the defenses of Demogorgon's most savage servant? Feh, you'll find my lord and master has provided me with unlimited powers.” As if to emphasize this, he takes a mighty swing at the off-balance Worrell and manages to find a small gap in the paladin's armor [6 hp damage]

Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
[ooc]I wish. Unfortunately, the pre-Psionics Unleashed version of the soulknife we're using expends the psychic damage charge whether the attack hits or misses (which is what happened in Cyrius' previous attack). It takes a move action to charge a mind blade with psychic damage, so with a move and a strike there was no chance to do so this time around, which means only 5 points of damage. That said...[/ooc]patransom wrote:[13 hp damage after adding the psychic strike damage]
