Doggedly trying to discommode the Faceless One, and despite the obstacle of the cover provided by the alcove, Cyrius charges his mind sword with psychic energy and swings at the foe.
And misses once again.

Round 13 Ends
Noticing Lola departing and seeing that there's not enough room for him forward, Marcus follows Lola. Before leaving he notices the sound of casting and recognizes the spell. He warns his team that the Faceless One is summoning a monster, using his rod to extend the duration of the spell.
Round 14 Begins
Worrel advances again, close to the Faceless One, so that he can attack and disrupt the foul magic. Worrel is still unable to hit the Faceless One.
Doggedly trying to discommode the Faceless One, and despite the obstacle of the cover provided by the alcove, Cyrius charges his mind sword with psychic energy and swings at the foe. And misses once again.
Lola opens the secret door, hoping it will lead to a passage behind the Faceless One. She starts to walk down the passage, with the light on her bolt showing the way, but finds that it ends in an apparently blank wall...
The Faceless One finishes his spell and a hideous creature appears in a puff of smoke behind Worrel. It is a bloated, demonic-looking humanoid [D on the map]. The creature lays into Worrel, attacking with both claws and a bite, but is unable to penetrate the paladin's armor [all three attacks missed].
The Faceless One himself opens the door behind him, giving both Cyrius and Worrel another unsuccessful shot at him [both AoO's missed]. He steps back into the featureless cubical behind him and casts a spell. Three missiles of magical force fly forth with savage accuracy and land with a resounding thump in the center of Worrel's face [15 hp damage].
Tex flings his alchemists' fire to clear the last of the webs in the corridor, then moves a bit forward, hoping for a clear shot at either the Faceless One or his summoned minion.

Worrel calls upon his connection to Mithra before stepping forward to attack the Faceless One.
Emboldened by his deity, Worrel attempts to remove this evil spellcaster. His sword swings closer to true, with Mitra's strength behind it.

Moving up behind Lola, Marcus waits to see what she finds...
Round 15 Begins
Worrel calls upon his connection to Mitra before stepping forward to attack the Faceless One. Emboldened by his deity, Worrel attempts to remove this evil spellcaster. His sword swings closer to true, but not quite close enough, even with Mitra's strength behind it [miss].
Pivoting to engage this new adversary, Cyrius slashes with his mind blade. His strike leaves a wound slick with gore, but perhaps not as deep as he would have expected [12 hp - DR 5 = 7 hp damage]
Lola searches and finds a secret door, which she opens. Beyond the door she sees a room that's clearly been lived in. Ratty sleeping blankets are strewn about and at the center are the cold remains of a campfire. There are, however, no exits [even between 0213-0212 there's a solid wall]
Marcus moves into the room.
The demonic creature counterattacks Cyrius, with no success [three attacks missed again].
The Faceless One pulls out another scroll. Worrel takes the opportunity for another slash, with predictable results [AoO missed]. The Faceless One guffaws at Worrel's futility and reads the scroll. As the parchment evaporates, it unleashes a bolt of lightning that arcs through both Worrel and Cyrius, but crashes into the wall before it reaches Tex [it was the 30-ft line template third from left here; Worrel and Cyrius face a potential 20 hp damage, Reflex DC13 for half]
Hoping to improve his aim at the Faceless One, Tex casts the spell, Aspect of the Falcon.

Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
Round 16
Worrel take the full force of the lightning bolt and falls to the ground, unconscious [20 hp damage puts Worrel at -5. I used your attack roll as a CON check, so you are stable]
Cyrius evades the full brunt of the electrical discharge, then, singed and seething, charges his mind blade with psychic energy to deal another blow to his fearsome adversary. With a quick cut, he hews a slitting gash through his foe [10 hp - DR5 = 5 hp damage]
Lola calls down curses and turns to run back to the rest of the party.
Copying Lola's exasperation, Marcus follows.
The demonic creature continues its frenzied clawing and biting. A deft swing of one of its claws cuts a shearing path across Cyrius [potential crit not confirmed: 2 hp damage]
With Worrel fallen, the Faceless One begins casting another long spell, waving his rod in the air.
“I don't know what he's casting, but I'll see if I can stop him,” says Tex. He takes aim with solemn focus (almost exactly like a falcon), releasing a timely shot that plunges into the spellcaster [potential crit not confirmed: 5 hp damage]. Tex doesn't achieve his desired result, though, as the Faceless One continues right on incanting [concentration check made]

Things are getting a bit dicey here! Cyrius calls to his companions as he again charges his weapon with psychic energy and hews at the bloated abomination.

Round 17
Worrel lays unconcious on the floor.
Things are getting a bit dicey here! Cyrius calls to his companions as he again charges his weapon with psychic energy and hews at the bloated abomination. The extra momentum generated by the psychic charge gives the weapon the force to rive the creature into two portions [14 hp - DR5 = 9 hp = dead demon]
Lola and Marcus hurry into the room to join Cyrius.
The Faceless One's spell ends and three small, roughly humanoid creatures explode up from the earth (E1, E2, and E3). They appear to be made of dirt and stone and are faceless save for two glowing gemstone eyes. E1 and E2 appear conveniently flanking Lola. Both wind up and swing their stony fists at her. Their eyes glow more brightly as both strikes batter their foe [8 hp + 6 hp = 14 hp damage total]
E3 has no such success attacking Cyrius [miss]
The Faceless One drops his rod, retrieves a potion, and pours it into the small slit in his mask where his mouth would be. Some of his wounds heal.
“Well, now that's quite a crowd to shoot through” Tex complains. Indeed, his shot sails wide of the Faceless One.

Not really knowing much about crossbows, what would happen if Lola pushed it against the face of E1 and pulled the trigger? Would there be enough force to allow the bolt to fly out, or would it not even really fire? I assume Lola, being proficient in it would know. |

Round 18
Worrel remains unconscious.
Charging his mind blade with psychic energy, Cyrius swings at E1. Using a cunning underhand swing, he catches his opponent completely off-guard [8 hp damage]
Lola shoves her crossbow in E1's face. Before she can pull the trigger, the earth monsters take the opportunity to flail at her with their fists. Two of the three of them connect, their strikes landing with sharp cracking sounds [17 hp damage total]. Surviving this onslaught, Lola watches as her bolt plunges catastrophically into the center of E1's face, ending the creatures brief visit to this plane [8 hp damage finishes E1]
Marcus casts shield on himself.
The two remaining earth monsters divide their attention between Lola and Cyrius. Both miss.
The Faceless One draws a dagger from his robes. He speaks a few words and the dagger flies from his hand, propelled by magic toward Cyrius. The weapon misses, but still magically returns to the Faceless One's hand.
“Let me see if I can clear the way,” says Tex, aiming his bow at E3. The instant he gets a clean shot, he sends his arrow directly into the target [4 hp damage]

Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
Lola, shift west and get out a sword! Cyrius urges as he charges his mind blade with psychic energy and hacks at E2. Marcus, get in here and beat on one of these things!

OUT OF CHARACTER |
Is Cyrius attacking E2 or E3? It says E2 in your text, but E3 in the rolz |
Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
Sorry, pilot error, I actually scribbled down E3 (the target) along with to-hit and damage rolls on a scratch pad for Rolz, but inadvertently typed E2 here. Confirming, the target is E3.

Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
as marcus is about to cast mage armour he call to Lola interrupting Cyrius. “Lola instead i need you southeast so I can take northwest corner, please?”
Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
As Lola starts her move, she hears Marcus, and moves just south. Attacking E2 instead.
Re: [Active Thread] The Third Face of Evil
Round 19
Worrel remains unconscious.
Following some tactical discussion with Lola and Marcus, Cyrius charges his mind blade with psychic energy and hacks at E3. He laces his moves with sly deception before hitting his mark [9 hp damage]
Lola drops her crossbow, pulls out her +1 short sword, steps into the southeast corner and hacks at e2. Her sudden strike takes the enemy unawares [3 hp damage]
Marcus casts mage armor on himself, then steps into the room, planning to head for the northwest corner.
E2 attacks Lola, slamming its fist into her with a well-executed reverse-swing [7 hp damage]
E3 attacks Cyrius, misses, and crumbles into dust from the effort [Cyrius' last strike brought it to exactly 0 hp]
Seeing his creatures falling so quickly, the Faceless One pushes a hidden button on the wall behind him. A secret door opens, he steps through, then the door closes behind him.
“Blast, he's getting away” says Tex, aiming his bow at the last elemental. With a gruesome thud, the arrow becomes the last nail in the creature's coffin [11 hp damage finishes E2]
