Combat Round #4 |
Initiative Order: Van: Van continues to concentrate on his Bless spell (+5'), hits the creature with his scimitar and raises his shield. (Creature -6 HPs) Falas: Falas tries to go up the icy stairs, slips and falls back down, returning to his original spot. He stands and tries again, but this time he is successful! He then stides close to Van. Mazer: Mazer tries to go up the icy stairs, slips and falls back down, returning to his original spot. He stands and tries again, and he slips and slides back to his original stating point, frustrated by his lack of progress on the slippery ice. Siril: Siril moves up the icy stairs. He takes aim at the creature, letting fly two arrows, which miss. He aims again for a third shot, ans his arrow finds a sliver of the creature - enough so to deeply wound it! (Thanks to Van's Bless spell ) (Creature -10 HPs) Creature: The wounded Creature desperatly climbs the wall and moves across the other side of the corridor, using its claws to traverse the icy ceiling (arrives at P5). It then tries to send a puff of frigid vapors in Siril's face, but Siril is able to resist most of the cold (Siril is Clumsy 1 for 1 round). The Creature then moves back into the western cavern where Mazer is located, disappearing south, still clinging 10' up the wall. --End of Round -- |
NOTE #1: Showing Mazer's Point of View... Other characters can't see it in their respective positions.
NOTE #2: Red area = slippery; Requires a DC15 Acrobatics, or you slip and slide down with possible consequences...
NOTE #3: The creature is NOT visible from the P column! You need to be at least in the Q column to have a line of sight.
NOTE #4: GREEN cells is difficult terrain
NOTE #5: The Creature is 10' up the wall; It cannot be attacked by a small creature unless it has a reach weapon! Medium creatures are able to reach it.
NOTE #6: NOT having access to Attack of Opportunity à la Pathfinder 1st edition makes a BIG difference in such combat moves!! I think I LIKE it!
Notes #7: Just to clarify a bit further the position of the Creature: You need to be in Q2 (as a medium sized) to be able to reach the creature in melee!

Siril will stride to R6 attempting to keep his balance down the slippery steps.

Updated the map to show the position of the creatures which is currently climbing on the icy walls. Added Notes #7!! Notes #7: Just to clarify a bit further the position of the Creature: You need to be in Q2 (as a medium sized) to be able to reach the creature in melee combat! |

Possibly: You would need a good Athletics check to break the ice and roughen its surface (costs: ) This assumes you have a metal object to use to do this... (dagger, sword, axe, hammer, pick....) because your fists won't cut it, nor a branch ) |

Initiative Order: Van: Van moves down the icy stairs and slips, almost taking down Mazer on his way to the Icy Wall. The Wall stands firm and stops Van's antics (Van -6 HPs), stands and expands his Bless spell. He inquires about Falas's health and suggest a course of action to Siril. Falas: Falas moves near the icy stairs, and starts hacking at them, to make them less slippery... He is not satisfied with his first try and suspects they would need a more vigourous effort to make they less dangerous. Mazer: Mazer stands and switch weapon. He notices out the corner of his eyes that Van is barrelling down the stairs directly towards him! He sucessfully avoids being taken down by the flailing Van. Siril: Siril moves down the icy stairs but also slips, thankfully not directly at Mazer. But the Icy Wall convinces Siril to stop. (Siril -1 HP). Siril stands and takes aim at the annoying creature, but fails to connect. Creature: The wounded Creature moves horizontally on the wall, seeking escape from this crowded room (moves to N5). As it pases Falas, it bites him. (Falas -12 HPs). Falas is sorely wounded. The creature continues its movement on the wall, dissapearing down the first southern corridor (at K4) --End of Round -- |

No, you would still need to roll a reflex save the instant you 'step' on the Hazard... If going down the stairs, you can use the Leap action. If going up, you need to use the Long Jump Athletics skill action, but that requires a 10' running start, which is not available thanks to the western icy wall. And to make matters worst, you'd also need to jump UP 5', adding to the difficulty! |

Siril runs (strides) up the stairs like an elf to M5.

If he can see his prey he uses Hunted Shot to shoot.

He moves out the way in case the others are coming up. Mazer: Mazer will attempt to go back UP the stairs, slips and falls. he stands up, and tried again. The second time is successful and he moves eastward. Siril: Siril easily moves up the slippery stairs and stops in front of the southward corridor. He can see the creature 6 ft high on the wall, in an alcove and fires at it, both arrows missing Creature: The creature moves on the wall towards Siril, and attempts to bite him (from the wall section near square L5) but misses. It then scrambles westward, still using its claws to adhere to the walls! NOTE: Map sis showing Van's Point of View!! Falas is in M6 --End of Round -- |
