“Do we have our talkies on the right channel? if so "ill head over about 100 to the side, and up a bit so i am in good range and get set. Tell me when to fire.”
Thanis, dons his guille suit, aand makes his hide check. then moves and half speed to the side and then up to be about 215' out. Begins aiming and the new guy. then waits for the signal to shoot.

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Very close to getting the party started ... The party is currently about 500 feet from the fence, viewing the area using Thanis and Shareev's devices. I have:
Thanis moving to 215 feet out, hiding and waiting to shoot.
Shareev setting the etheevi to roll straight at the gate.
Oldin casting silence on his book and ordering it to fly in as the etheevi distracts the guards.
Any one else want to move closer before the assualt starts? The lights from the fence illuminate about 100 feet outside the compound (bright 50 feet, shadowy 50 feet).
Are you waiting for another shift change, or executing the plan while two are on the tower?
Oh yeah, who has the talkie bracelets? Shareev has one, I assume Thanis has another. That leaves two more. It will take only a minute of instruction for Shareev to show you how to use them.

It's Night time? Awesome! Thanis will wait to shoot until the book has entered the tower. Which should be right about the time the guy leave at shift change gets to the bottom of the tower. |
Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Esias will accompany Thanis in his approach, staying about 20 feet apart. He won't be able to shoot into the compound with any sort of accuracy from there (-4 range modifier), but he'll be able to cover Thanis if a Dude pops up, and be closer when the assault begins.

Seeing Esias's plan, Oldin asks, “Amon, would you feel more comfortable staying back to protect Thanis, or joining us as we attempt to enter the compound? I would prefer you protect Thanis, as much for your safety as for the fact that if he comes to danger, I would feel better knowing you were there to protect him.”

my plan for Leena is for her to be over the fence when the assault happens, is there anyone in the party that could cast invisability or silence on her? If possible she could even use sneak attack to take down a Dude. |

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
[Let the action begin]
Amon readily agrees to Oldin's suggestion, so he joins Esias and Ruadhnait some distance away from Thanis. As Oldin's silent book flies toward the tower, Shareev sets the etheevi to cruise toward the gate just as the shift change is about to start.
The rest of the party creeps toward the compound, just to the edge of the darkness. Moving further into the shadowy area will require hide checks. Once you reach the bright area, hiding will not be possible, as there's no cover.
Things start to happen. The dude remaining on the tower hears the etheevi coming (it's not very quiet) and shouts something to his comrade descending the ladder. The other dude climbs back up to the top of the tower and both begin peering into the darkness. As soon as the etheevi reaches the well-lit area, one of the dudes fires the big haynoon at it.
There is an explosion and the etheevi is reduced to a pile of junk. At this point, Oldin's book reaches the tower. As the book hovers just above the tower, the dudes appear confused as they try to talk about what just happened, but their voices make no sound.
At this point, Thanis shoots the dude manning the cannon (#1), hitting him square in the chest. The man doesn't go down, however.
[I've gone back to the old x-y grid style for this map, hope that's not too confusing. Thanis and the group near him are off map.]

A bigger version of the map... possibly easier to read if you happen to have a wide monitor...

Shoot same guy again.
THINKING: Well the etheevi tipped them off, negated the other getting out of the tower.

Oldin waits for the two dudes to be killed. Once they are dead, he plans to rush up to the haynoon and blow it up (hopefully enough of his fire will cause it to explode).
Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Brand will shadow Oldin, until he destroys the haynoon.

Esias has an arrow nocked in his bow and is keeping watch for foes who threaten his "squad" (+12 Listen, +11 Search, +12 Spot) as well as an eye on Amon in case the boy gets the impulse to join in the fight (+6 Grapple if necessary).

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
[A few rounds at once here, since it seems no one's doing anything until Thanis finishes off the dudes.]
Thanis takes two more shots at the Dude manning the haynoon. The second shot hits and the Dude ducks down behind the haynoon [Only partial cover, since he doesn't know exactly where the shots are coming from].
Thanis takes another shot at the partially hidden Dude. This shot only wings him and he's not dead yet. The second Dude on the tower begins to panic and heads for the ladder, beginning to climb down.
[I'll let Thanis decide now if he wants to change targets… or, of course, anyone else could do something]

Yeah, change targets, got for that 2nd guy heading for the ladder.
He should have two shots left, then he'll reload.
He doesnt want anyone to leave the silence bubble.

THINKING: Perhaps I should run out there. While I will likely get myself killed, it might keep them in the tower, especially if they see only one man running towards them. Or perhaps, I can wave, as though I am in trouble, running to them for help... I can also make gestures like I cannot speak, so they might think that it is not just them!
Oldin does just that! He rushes towards the tower, providing a distraction, hoping that the men will remain in the tower with the haynoon pointed at him. Of course, if they actually fire at him, he is dead, but if they just wait to see what he does, it might buy Thanis enough time to kill them both.

Leenah moves to the edge of the light V 18 and hides until the last guard is dead.

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
If the guard makes it more than 10 feet away from the tower or starts yelling and is heard , Brand will run out in the open and issue a Knights Challenge: Test of Mettle (DC 16), to try and lure him in to attacking him instead of running away to get help.
Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Leenah creeps toward the tower, to the edge of the lighted area, doing her best to remain unseen.
Oldin runs toward the tower, gesticulating as if frightened…
At the same time, Thanis takes a shot at the Dude on the ladder, but his bullet misses.
Amon looks at his uncle with concern, but doesn't move yet…
The Dude cowering behind the haynoon catches a glimpse of Oldin and looks at him curiously, as if uncertain what to do.
The Dude on the ladder pauses a moment at the sight of Oldin, but then continues to descend. It seems, however, that Oldin has created some sort of distraction for the Dude. His foot completely misses the next rung down and he falls from the ladder! He lands solidly on the ground. The fall doesn't appear to have injured him, but he is now lying flat on his back at the base of the ladder. [He actually rolled a 1 on his climb check… what a moron!]

Shareev looks at Thanis and whispers Better take him out now or else we have to run in and try to avoid the haynoon

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Oldin switches directions towards the gate. He moves to O21, still pretending that he can't speak and is trying to avoid the bullets. As he moves, he tries to see where his book is. If his book is near the haynoon (not his initial intention, as he was going to try to destroy the haynoon), he will target the fallen man with an explosion (3d6 fire, reflex for half). If his book is safely out of the 5' radius of his blast, he will explode the haynoon (and if possible, dude 1). Then, he will drop into a ball and point at the gate, as though he is begging for it to open.
Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Oldin moves toward the gate. He gestures and a burst of flame emanates from just beneath the grated metal platform atop the tower. The flames reach up through the grate, catching the lower half of the cowering Dude's body and covering the back of the haynoon. The Dude leaps in the air, avoiding the worst of the flames, and is only barely burned. The haynoon appears completely undamaged and Oldin cowers, pointing at the gate…
Excitingly, Oldin's little burst of flame is followed immediately by a sequence of much larger (but strangely silent, thanks to Oldin's spell) explosions! It's hard to tell, but you think you count five of them. Flames engulf the entire top of the tower! When they dissipate, little is left of the top of the tower or the haynoon; only a twisted, melted mass of metal and the charred corpse of the Dude who once stood there! The bottom of the tower and the fence below remain intact, however. [Hehe, it was rather stupid of them to keep the extra ammo for the cannon right next to it, eh? 5x10d6 fire damage is quite a lot. The Dude is at –152 hit points!]
Unfortunately, Oldin's prayer book, although outside the range of Oldin's first burst, is caught by the subsequent explosions. Although it resists some of the fire, it is burnt to a crisp and its cinders float to the ground [The prayer book took 80 hp of fire damage]
With Shareev's suggested target quite dead, Thanis waits for the Dude at the bottom to stand up and pegs him right in the head. Only the skull cap that is part of his Kel Suit saves him from certain death. [Critical! Confirmed!]
The Dude screams silently [with the remains of the prayerbook on the ground, Oldin's silence is now at ground level] and flees into the compound…
Seeing the Dude move, Brand runs into the open and shouts, Stand your ground and face me, coward! The Dude stops and turns to face Brand.

Re: [Active Thread] Assualt on the aerie of the ... uh, Dudes
Oldin doubles over in pain as his prayerbook is destroyed, the shock of the lost bond causing him to bleed from his eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. With the sudden loss of his familiar, he does not hear Brand's challenge, and as the dude turns, Oldin looks pathetic in an attempt to convince him to open the gate.
