[talk]Aye, Aye, I'm comin'[/talk] Tex follows Prost
Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Prost takes point and leads the party forward. Soon enough, The corridor turns to reveal another room choked with rocky formations. Stalagmites and stalactites block the line of sight ahead. Like the last chamber, this place has a rocky, uneven floor of natural stone. It slopes downward, and here and there rivulets of water flow southward. Furthermore, near the edge of Prost's darkvision (row xx15), there appears to be a sudden drop-off, a cliff that descends who knows how far into the depths below.
Near the edge of the cliff, Prost spots a Grimlock lurking, partially hidden behind a stalagmite. This Grimlock wears a cloak fashioned from some sort of grey-furred creature over studded leather armor and wears a mask made from a wolf skull (and painted red, although Prost can't tell that with darkvision). He carries a composite longbow and wears a battleaxe at his belt. He does not seem to have noticed Prost yet...

Once again, I am houseruling that the trickling water allows Prost cover to use stealth to hide from the Grimlock's blindsight. This entire area is difficult terrain (2 squares to move 1 square; no 5 foot steps). If a square has a number it it, you can stand there without squeezing. If it doesn't have a number in it, you can't stand there. There's shading to show the extent of normal and dim light from Lola's sunrod. The shadowy area is dim light, although Tex and Prost can see normally there thanks to darkvision. |

[ooc]Lola has her short sword and sunrod readied. In order to ready and load her crossbow, she will have to put those away or down. Is that what she wants to do? With simple hand signals Prost signals Tex to stop. He signals that he sees something, then moves quietly forward watching for anything else. The grimlock sniffs the air around him and frowns, looking rather confused.
Prost signals Tex to follow quietly, pointing at the Grimlock. Tex pauses, then moves ever so slowly to stand beside Prost. As he readies an arrow to target the grimlock, the creature sniffs the air again and, with a growl, begins to move toward the east.
Readied Action
Seeing the grimlock's intention to move out of line of sight, the dwarf wastes no time in letting his arrow fly. In spite of cover from an intervening stalagmite, Tex's arrow finds its mark.
Round 1 Begins
The twang of Tex's bow allows the grimlock to pinpoint the dwarf's location, so it does not flee out of sight. Instead, it returns fire as it moves more slowly east, but misses.

Re: [Active Thread] The Second Face of Evil
Round 1 Continues
Cyrius moves forward to be ready to enter the fray next turn.
Marcus waits to follow Lola...
Prost fires his crossbow at the grimlock as it retreats to the east, but misses. Then, using what cover that can be found, Prost moves quietly to down the tunnel watching for any new threats along the way. He immediately spots some new threats in the form of two strange, earless, panther-like beasts (K1 and K2) lurking in the eastern portion of the cave. Although Prost has some cover from the creatures, these beasts seem quite aware of his presence, if not his exact location... They do not act yet, however.
Once Prost moves, Worrel moves ahead to take his place near the entrance of the chamber.
Lola will move up with the rest of the group. Keeping ready to swing her sword if there is anything near.
Marcus keeps close to Lola.
Tex moves forward as far as he can (he cannot reach 410; his speed is 20' and it is difficult terrain as per below), and lets another shot go at the grimlock. This time he misses. Then he also spots the strange beasts to the east.
Round 2 Begins
The grimlock fires an arrow at Tex. He manages to hit [11 hp damage]. Then he barks out what sounds like a command in a strange language...
In response, the panther-like beasts bound forward, approach to within biting distance of Tex and into clear sight of Prost. Instead of attacking, however, the skin of each creature's face twitches, then peels back to reveal the glistening skull and musculature underneath (check out the picture here)! Each beast also lets out a strange, keening wail, directed at Prost and Tex, respectively. Each of them stands up fairly well to the horrifying sight, but the wail might be another story entirely [Prost and Tex each need a DC12 Will save to avoid being frightened for 3 rounds]

Round 2 Continues
Cyrius waits for some space up front...
Arrrrrgh..............! Prost drops his crossbow and screams out as he runs as fast as he can and as far as he can away from the terrifying beast [Prost's speed is 20' and this is difficult terrain, so he doesn't get to 0605].
Worrell mutters a prayer and gestures to form the symbol of Mitra in the air before him, casting Bless on himself and his companions. Once that is done, the paladin moves forward to replace Prost.
Lola continues to move up ready to swing at an enemy when one gets near.
Marcus advances to the next open space and fires a bolt at the nearest target in view, which happens to be a krenshar (K2). Unfortunately, the creature has cover and he misses, just barely, his bolt crashing off the cave wall.
“Holy Crap!” Tex exclaims. He takes a step back, receiving a nasty bite from the krenshar as he goes [possible crit, not confirmed, 6 hp damage]. He then fires a shot at the beast that bit him, wounding it severely.
Cyrius advances to the position that Tex vacated and thrusts his mind blade at the wounded krenshar, killing it!
Round 3 Begins
The grimlock kennel master fires an arrow at the newly arrived Cyrius, but misses in his anger. He then circles east towards a position with cover from more of the party.
The remaining panther-like beast peels back its skin to show Cyrius its innards and howls at him. The horrifying sight leaves Cyrius shaken (for 1 round) and less likely to resist the frightening effects of the wail [Cyrius needs a DC12 Will save (don't forget the -2 for being shaken) to avoid being frightened for 2 rounds]. At a command from the grimlock, the creature then retreats back to its master's side.
