Introduction

Created by user marc4darkskies, the TOS 5e Dice Roller (referred to as TDRFive) is an Excel macro driven workbook developed for TOS-Five.

Primary Goals of TDRFive

  • Enable hassle free digital dice rolling for more streamlined dynamic play. The need to find, roll and add up physical dice for attack, damage, ability, skills and save rolls (among others) is eliminated. Damaging spells and other rolled spell effects can also be defined or selected from a TOSFive sheet so that they can be automatically rolled.
  • Free DMs from using manual notes during an encounter Creature / character initiatives, combat order and damage received can be tracked and combat attacks for up to 150 creatures’ or other ad-hoc effects can be automatically rolled.

For Players

TDRFive will interface automatically with up to six TOS-Five character sheets to facilitate attack, damage, ability, skills and save rolls (among others). Spell effects within the players sheets that require dice rolls are loaded and can be be selected to be automatically rolled. If you're playing with paper sheets, either use the Dice sheet OR enter your character's combat stats into the Ad-Hoc sheet and roll from there or roll from the ad-hoc tables in the combat sheet.

For DMs

Creature / character initiatives can be tracked, and dice rolls for up to 150 NPCs and creatures’ weapon / spell attacks can be made. The DM can select creatures for combat from the built-in creature database. Creatures / NPCs can be created, edited, or deleted and utilised for combat dice rolls. Most creatures and their full stat blocks, including images and web links, are viewable.

DMs can also easily select and save one or more creature images (without stat block info) to a suitable network location for player characters to view.

Compatibility

TDRFive has been tested and is fully functional on Office 365. Although reports indicate it will work on Excel 2019, there may be some issues.

Main Features

1. Can load up to 6 TOS-Five character sheets (.xlsb files)

2. When using TOS-Five sheets, all combat parameters are derived from loaded TOS-Five workbooks to enable dice rolls for Attack, Damage, Init and Saves, Ability and Skills.

3. Can operate without needing to load TOS-Five characters by a) allowing definition and rolling of up to 150 ad-hoc characters or effects via the "Ad-Hoc" sheet and b) using the miscellaneous roll options

4. The "Combat" sheet facilitates all combat rolls for PCs (TOS-Five sheets) and NPCs (Ad-Hoc characters)

5. The "Ad-Hoc" sheet accepts entries for creatures, PCs and NPCs and allows dice rolls for saves, abilities and combat attacks

6. All dice rolls can be done as Normal, Advantage and Disadvantage rolls

7. Will keep the last 50 dice rolls in a comprehensive "History" table with detailed descriptions

8. The "Combat" sheet can be configured to show 3 “Combat” sheet layouts – “TOS Only”, “Ad-Hoc Only” and “TOS and Ad-Hoc”

9. For those playing with "crunchy crits", the option is available on the combat sheet to enable them

10. When NOT using loaded TOS-Five sheets, character combat parameters and spell effects can be defined in the “Ad-Hoc” sheet

11. In the "Ad-Hoc" sheet, initiatives can be rolled, sorted and tracked. Manual initiative entry is allowed

12. In the "Ad-Hoc" sheet, damage inflicted on any creatures can be tracked

13. Contains statistics for approximately 365 Creatures which can be added to an "Ad-Hoc" character table and used for combat dice rolls.

14. Can filter and select creatures for combat from the built-in TDRFive creature database to enable Attack, Damage, Initiative and Save rolls

15. Can create, modify and delete creatures within the built-in TDRFive creature database editor

16. Can export Ad-Hoc creature images (without statistics) to a designated location to allow viewing by players

17. Uses highly random functions to roll dice as opposed to the very non-random VBA functions
