It turns out that leeches aren't the only creatures attracted to the bait and it quickly becomes unusable after the local critters and creepy crawleys find it, but you are able to make camp and get a good enough night's sleep so that you are no longer feeling quite so weary.

Prembret's camp is not far and you are able to travel to it quickly and without incident. But it turns out that Prembret is even worse at picking camping spots than Ecmund. The campsite is in a rare break in the canopy, letting the pouring rain reach the ground without interruption, greatly reducing visibility. I set up camp by the cliff over there. It would have such wonderful views if the rain would stop!

I'll protect Prembret back here while you dispatch the leeches! Ecmund declares.

You are no longer fatigued. New Scene means a new Hero Point, but also the Scene 2 bonuses no longer apply.

You can't see the leaches yet, but go ahead and roll initiative.

Aside from Prembret’s tent, this area is devoid of a canopy to protect you from the worst of the Sodden Land’s torrential rains. All creatures take a –2 circumstance penalty to visual Perception checks. Creatures who are 100 or more feet apart are concealed from each other. Squares containing water are difficult terrain. There is more of the map available to the North and South.

Pixel wonders about the fighting capabilities of these Leaches, specifically if they tend to prefer ranged or melee encounters....

Pixel is able to recall that giant leeches do not have a ranged attack.

Tover sees alot of room ahead, so he asks our guest to point out where his camp and research was last at.... assuming he points to somewhere he will take guarded slow steps in that direction. Looking around for leeches.... [will roll when I have my tos sheet next in front of me]

After using Recall Knowledge :1action: , Pixel will Sneak (twice :2actions: ) to F11, and then try to Seek :1action: the leeches.

Tover :1action: Raise shield :1action: carefully move 10' to E12 :1action: seek. He will keep repeating that pattern along the 12 row to approach the "bridge" at H12 unless something happens/interrupts him

You spot the leeches, but they notice you at the same time. They start slowly crawling towards you, and then disappear in the water, before rising from the water next to Victor (Leech 1 :2actions:, Leech 2 :3actions: ). The leech to arrive first bites :1action: Victor and latches on :1action: , while the next one also bites :1action: Victor, but does not have time to latch on.

Tovers actions will depend on if the leech is attached to Victor....Based on action count icons seems each leech took too many actions? With Tovers weapon being reach, he could hit them from his current spot and swing twice then block, but only if Victor is not grabbed so Victor could swing then back up..

Arkyat will :1action: strike at the leech at G14.
To Hit: Discord roll 24
Damage: Discord damage 9. With +2 for Implements Empowerment, + any discovered weakness or personal antithesis if Exploit was successful.

rationale: Tover is thinking If victor can step back, then BOTH leeches will need to waste an action to get back in range to hit ! <since he is first action, he doesnt know someone later than him is also closing into melee range>

IF Victor grabbed/cant move - Tover would 5' move to H13 so maybe both not attack Victor :1action: STEP

:1action: FIRST strike on g14 (for either answer) roll 13, likely miss but just in case hits dam: 8.

if Victor NOT stuck, then tover thinking Victor would swing then step back so tover did not step: so second action :1action: strike roll 8 so miss, sigh.

third action regardless: :1action: Raise Shield

Tover noticed that the leeches seem to be acting quicker than leeches normally would. He took two wild swings at the leeches, but hit neither.

Pixel healed his friend and hid in bush.

Arkyat remembers the slugs in his grandmother's garden and thinks that maybe since salt hurts slugs that salt might hurt leeches as well. He grabs a pinch of salt to apply to his weapon, swings, lands a blow and deals 16 damage. The leech is badly injured.

Victor removed the leech from his skin and moved back.

Severly damaged from the salt, one leech strides :1action: to H12, potentially provoking Attacks of Opportunity. If it survives it bites :1action: Victor again, dealing 5 points of damage. It Grabs :1action: Victor and Blood Drains :1action: him, dealing 2 points of damage and Victor becomes Drained 1.

The second leech bites :1action: Tover, dealing 7 points of damage. It Grabs :1action: Tover and Blood Drains :1action: him, dealing 4 points of damage and Tover becomes Drained 1.

Tover AOO: rolls 13 again, sigh.

Tover swings 3 times since why bother to raise a shield since grabbed.. 13 (again?), 6, 12. Ok rng biting hard...

Prior to the remaster, monsters with the Grab ability did not require a check to succeed at grabbing after a successful hit. As we have not been playing with remaster rules i had not been rolling for it. However, I've looked it up now that you have asked about it, and the old rule no longer exists on the Archives of Nethys, suggesting the new rule applies for both legacy and remaster. I will use this going forward.

Pixel will attack the Leech already damaged (Sorry it is unclear to me which one that is on the Map)
He uses his Bloodline spell (1 focus point), Elemental Toss :1action:
