Round 3

That was tricky... Prost comments after picking the lock. He opens the door.

Tex readies an action to fire at Theldrick if he begins casting a spell.

Cyrius winces as he feels the bane take effect and tells his companions, It's never a good idea to fight on the battlefield your opponent chooses if an alternative is at hand. I think Prost has just given us an alternative. He steps back and makes ready to follow the party down the newly available corridor.

Well, we found out who made those undead. My last skeleton will occupy them for a bit, so let's get through the door. Filge hustles across the hallway and into the narrow corridor, moving down it until he comes to another door, which turns out to be locked.

The remaining skeleton under Filge's control swipes at one of the Troglodyte zombies, missing badly.

Unaffected by the bane spell [save rolled for you], Marcus loads his crossbow and fires a bolt at the Half-orc (Garras). The bolt glances harmlessly off the brute's half-plate armor [a miss].

Lola follows Filge down the hallway with her crossbow at the ready.

Annoyed that one skeleton remains out of his control, the one-eyed man (Theldrick) again points to the holy symbol painted on his armor and, emitting a wave of negative energy, commands, In the name of Innana, mistress of power, attack the interlopers! Again, Filge's skeleton (S4) refuses to obey.

The Amazon on the right (Kendra) directs another spell at Cyrius [he needs a DC15 will save (subject to the -1 from Bane) to avoid being subject to Doom, which will make him shaken (-2 on most checks)]

The Tiefling woman on the right (T1) backs up along the balcony to get a clear shot at Cyrius, but misses again.

The Tiefling on the left (T2) does likewise to fire at Marcus. Her aim proves even worse, however.

The Half-orc on the left (Garras) retrieves and drinks yet another potion. His outline becomes blurry, making his exact location a little difficult to see.

Following Theldrick's instructions, the Troglodyte Zombies advance toward the party. Again, Z2 avoids a swipe from S4's mace as it moves [The skeleton's AoO missed again].

Skeletons S7 and S8 likewise pursue the party, arriving to face off with Cyrius and Marcus

Tex curses himself at losing an opportunity for a shot, but holds steady for just a bit longer, hoping to disrupt him. He takes a small (5') step to his left (1119) to try and get a better view of the Man.

(Still holding his readied action. Arrows dont do much against Skelley's anyway)

Filge steels himself before trying the door. if he gets it open, he will move through as far as possible or, if what he suspects is true, stop before the top of the stairs.

Prost moves down the hall, pulling out a potion on the way [that's two move actions; drinking it will have to wait until next round].

Tex curses himself at losing an opportunity for a shot, but holds steady for just a bit longer, hoping to disrupt Theldrick. In the meantime, he takes a small step to his left to try and get a better view of the man.

Fearing he has lost Athena's favor for the moment, the shaken Cyrius withdraws and stumbles down the newly revealed corridor.

Rather than trying to budge the door with his feeble strength, Filge retrieves a scroll in case he needs it and moves out of Prost's way to the door.

The remaining skeleton under Filge's control pursues one of the Troglodyte zombies. This time, it hits with its mace and succeeds in doing a bit of damage [4 hp got through the zombie's DR].

Marcus steps back, lowering his crossbow, and reaching forward with one hand. A ray of elemental electricity discharges from the palm of his hand and causes S7 to collapse in a pile of bones.

Lola guards the empty space in front of the door.

The one-eyed man (Theldrick) dislikes that his foes are fleeing, so he attempts to cast a spell. This triggers Tex's readied action. Tex's arrow flies harmlessly over the man's head, though. The completed hold person spell is then directed at Marcus, but the sorcerer is not affected [made your save].

The Amazon on the right (Kendra) stands by and watches.

The Tiefling woman on the right (T1) backs up again to take a clear shot at Marcus, but she misses.

The Tiefling on the left (T2) moves to where she can see down the hallway. Although her aim is partially blocked by the skeleton, she still shoots at Marcus. Predictably, she misses.

The Half-orc on the left (Garras) retrieves and drinks one final potion.

The Troglodyte Zombies continue to advance toward the party. Once again, Z2 avoids a swipe from S4's mace as it moves [The skeleton's AoO missed again]. The zombies arrive in front of Marcus.

Skeleton S8 finds its reach blocked by the zombies, so it moves around them, arriving between Marcus and the corridor [Marcus gets no AoO because he's holding a crossbow]. The skeleton gives Marcus a whack with its mace [5 hp damage]

Filge casts a spell that he first learned for almost this exact situation, when one of his undead servants escaped his control. It's weak but he can keep casting it all day.

Cyrius gathers himself and lurches back to stabs at the skeleton. He misses.

Filge casts a spell that he first learned for almost this exact situation, when one of his undead servants escaped his control. It's weak but he can keep casting it all day. The ray of energy misses [disrupt undead requires a ranged touch attack. I rolled for you, but the skeleton was in melee and had cover from Cyrius, so you missed.]

The remaining skeleton under Filge's control continues its pursuit. It swings its mace wildly, failing to hit Z2.

Marcus adjusts his position for maximum effect and unleashes a fan of electrical discharge. The electricity destroys both the enemy skeleton and the one under Filge's control. It damages both zombies.

Lola steps forward to ensure both zombies are in range and releases a positive channel energy burst. The damage is enough to eliminate both creatures.

With his zombie target gone, Tex decides to conserve ammunition [Your roll wouldn't have hit Theldrick or the tieflings, so I decided you wouldn't shoot, instead of changing targets for you. I have Tex with 9 arrows left.]

The one-eyed man (Theldrick) shouts at the tieflings, In the name of Inanna, get after them, wenches! He add, in the direction of the half-orc, You, too, Garras! Then he begins casting a spell.

The Amazon on the right (Kendra) continues to watch the action.

The Tiefling women (T1 and T2) glance at the Amazon, who rolls her eyes noticeably. T1 shoots her bow at Marcus and misses completely. T2 shoots at Tex, a somewhat better shot that still isn't good enough.

The Half-orc on the left (Garras) jumps down off the 20' high balcony! Unsurprisingly, he lands on his face in the sand below, but seemingly not much the worse for wear.

Filge moves up closer to Prost and tries to wait patiently. As he does, he listens intently to the spells being cast in the far room but cannot identify it.

Realizing the nature of the spell about to be cast, Marcus works a little bit of his own magic by opening a pit on the balcony.
DC 16 RefShow
Casting Create Pit to occupy squares 1102 to 1203. Thedrick and the two Tieflings require a reflex save or fall into the pit, 30 feet deep. The Tieflings require a DC 14 ref to avoid falling in, if I'm reading it correctly.

[ooc]The teiflings (on teh sloped sides of the pit), would get a +2 to their save. and any creature ending its turn on the border of teh pit (like where the tieflings are) will also need to make a save until the Pit expires.[/ooc]

Prost listens at the door and hears nothing. He also finds no traps.

With the immediate threat removed, Cyrius waits for Marcus and Texudus to GET YOUR @$$e$ IN HERE! before shutting the door.

Filge moves up closer to Prost and tries to wait patiently. As he does, he listens intently to the spells being cast in the far room but cannot identify it.

Realizing the nature of the spell about to be cast, Marcus works a little bit of his own magic by opening a pit on the balcony. Theldrick falls in the pit [9 hp damage, including 1 nonlethal], which ruins the casting of his spell! One of the tieflings (T1) likewise falls in the pit [same damage, coincidentally], but the other (T2) is more agile and manages to remain perched on the edge.

Lola is holds a shot in case a target comes into range. She notices that Marcus has some injuries [see below for hp damage; you can consider that in character knowledge]

Tex leans a little to his right, drawing a bead on T2, and lets an arrow fly. Unfortunately, his arrow strikes the huge statue between him and his target [missed due to the cover bonus]. Then he hustles into the hallway.

Inside the pit, you hear the incantation of a spell as the one-eyed man (Theldrick) reads from a scroll. The pit disappears and he and the tiefling rise to the surface [It should be obvious that the scroll was dispel magic].

No one can see what the Amazon on the right (Kendra) is up to.

The Tiefling women (T1 and T2) fire their bows at Marcus, who has remained in the hallway. One of them gets off a lucky shot and hits in spite of the obstructing statue [4 hp damage].

The Half-orc (Garras) stands up, brushes himself off, and begins moving toward the hallway.

Cyrius intends to wait until Marcus passes him going into the corridor before shutting the door, then he hopes to follow the rest of the party through the other door.
