SUBSCRIPTION

Why should I maintain my subscription active?

There are many reason to maintain your subscription:

  1. To support the author who spent thousands of work-hours for creating these Tools.
  2. Gain access to updates, which are made available through the Website.
  3. Gain access to the Community forums: All shared contents, classes, races, ancestries, Addons etc are made available to active Subscribers on the forums.
  4. Get technical Support: Each managers has a Help Desk section where you can get technical support for any of the TOS managers
  5. Gives the author incentive to continue improving and upgrading the Managers. Without support, the author would not spend as much time as he does (he does have a wife & kids to consider)!

GENERAL

What does the "(P)" at the end of a class name means?

In TOS+, classes created for the Pathfinder RPG 1st edition are tagged with (P) to distinguish them from their 3.5 OGL counterpart. Since all the class information is located in ONE single table, we cannot use the same name twice!

What does "-p" means at the end of Skill Names?

In TOS+, skills that are used for the Pathfinder 1st edition all end with the -p tag to distinguish them from their 3.5 OGL counterpart - even skills that do not exists in 3.5 OGL, like the Perception-p skill.

What does "AoO" stands for?

It stands for Attack of Opportunity

What does "CL" and "ML" stands for?

CL stands for Caster Level. ML stands for Manifester Level.

What does "DC" stands for?

DC stands for Difficulty Class.

What does "PP" stands for?

PP stands for Power Points.

What does the "< OO >" means on the right of the '2/day' text in the INFO section on the BACK worksheet?

This is used as check boxes to count the number of times you have used the ability. This is very useful for Printed version of your Character, so you can mark off use of abilities, hit points and such. If you use printouts, you can insert your Printed Character Sheet into these "envelop transparencies"; you can then use water soluble Pen (or dry erase pen) to mark off usage of these temporary elements

What do you mean exactly when you claim the Sheet has a lot of "integration"?

There are two flavors to Integration: In the first flavor, the sheet will present you information that is already calculated according to your Character's level, instead of you having to do the math. For example, a Cleric will see, in his Class Features, the number of times he can Turn-Undead - including adjustments from the Extra-Turning Feat. The second flavor to Integration is how the sheet will automatically adjust itself to reflect changes in your character: For example, if your Cleric selects the Trickery Domain, the skills "Bluff", "Disguise" and "Hide" will automatically be converted to Class Skills instead of Cross-Class Skills. The TOS Managers all have a high level of Integration.

Another good example (in TOS+) is the Skill Synergies which have ALL been integrated: Take 5 ranks in the Skill Jump, and notice your Tumble increase by +2!! But my favorite must be the HASTE spell; those using LapTops can simply type 'haste' on the LapTop sheet to see all the effects of haste integrated on the fly into their character!

This level of integration also explains WHY it is a LOT of work to add content to the sheet. Things are not simply pasted in; they are automated and integrated as much as possible. The implementation of the Stacking Rules is a good example of this complex automation.

Does TOS+ imposes the 20% XP penalty for multi-classed characters?

Not at All. XP entered in the XP worksheet will be totaled and displayed on the Front worksheet. Thus the XP entered, should already been adjusted by whatever penalty/bonus by the Game Master or Player.

Can I print all the needed worksheets at one time?

There is a "Print Workbook" option in the Print window of Excel - but you might want to focus only on the pages you really need, otherwise you will be wasting many pages!

Can you give me the Password to the Sheet? I want to modify it...

Would you ask Microsoft to give you the Source Code for Excel? Probably not: The password is the only means I have to prevent copying of my hard work. When you purchase the Sheet, I grant you the ability to use all features of the Sheet - not the right to access or change my work! The way the Sheet is built, you always have a Miscellaneous cell which you can use to input your own formulas. Some areas are totally unlocked, while others are partly unlocked (like the Class worksheet - which you can examine to study how Class Features are entered for Classes). If you think some area needs to be accessible/viewable, let me know and we will check it out. Another point to consider is that if you modify the internal formulas of the Sheet, then what will happen when a new update of the Sheet is available? You will lose your changes when you update!

HOW TO USE TOS+

While this section focuses on TOS+, many of the information within also apply to TOS FIVE and TOS 2nd PRO edition!

How can I use different Fighting Modes? (like two-weapon fighting)

You can define multiple fighting modes. Each Weapon Section on the Front Worksheet (there are 6 of them) can be set to a specified fighting mode. To change the fighting mode, simply click on the selected fighting mode just below the "Attack" word, and a small list will appear. Each two Weapon Sections are paired to allow you to define weapons used for two-weapon fighting (so section 1&2, 3&4, 5&6 go together for wielding dual-weapons). This is because the Sheet needs to know which weapon will be held in each hand to be able to properly calculate the penalties incurred. The first Attack section (and 3rd, and 5th) will allow you to define the weapon for the primary hand, while the second Attack section (and 4th, and 6th) can be set to define the off-hand weapon. Check the comment in the first Weapon Section for more information - Note that if the weapon Name becomes RED, it means that the selected fighting mode is not compatible with the selected weapon!! (example: Ranged fighting mode with a Long sword...)

My character has a Long Sword +2 - How/Where do I indicate this on the Sheet?

There are two ways to deal with this.

A) Select a Longsword in one of the the Weapon Sections of the Front Worksheet and set the "Attack Adj." and "Damage Adj." to 2 each. Although fast, this method 'forces' these bonus upon the weapon and bypasses the stacking rules. For magical weapons, the enhancement bonus does not stack. Nor is the value of the magical weapon represented!

B) The Best method is to define a Custom weapon in the Gear Worksheet and add the proper Effect! This way, each time you select that weapon, its bonuses will automatically be included and take into account the stacking rules. Proceed by defining a custom Longsword (based on the standard Longsword) and add two new effect for this weapon:

Table: Information to create a custom magical +2 Longsword
Weapon Name: Longsword +2
Value: 8315
Permanent Effect: Yes
Effect #1 Name: Longsword +2 Attack
Effect #1 Type: Enhancement
Effect #1 Modifier: =IF(b_NoMagic,1,2)
Effect #2 Name: Longsword +2 Damage
Effect #2 Type: Enhancement
Effect #2 Modifier: =IF(b_NoMagic,0,2)

Notice the use of a formula for the Modifiers. This simple formula will allow you to correctly use your sword in a No Magic zone (which can be activated on the Laptop worksheet!). So the named cell b_NoMagic will be TRUE when you are in an area where Magic does NOT function. Else it will be FALSE (default). Also note that the Attack part has a minimum of '1' when in a no magic zone: This is because a magic weapon remains Masterwork, even if its magic is suppressed!

One created, you can simply select the weapon on the FRONT worksheet! Note that you'll also need to add the new weapon in the Gear section of the Back worksheet!

Need more help? Check this on the forum!

In the Equipment list, I wish to indicate an Item that I own, but not carry on myself. Can I do that?

If you wish to indicate ownership of an Item, while not carrying it during your adventuring days, simply set the quantity to zero. The weight will then be 0 for that item and it will not count toward your encumbrance. Note that you can also set the quantity to a Letter to indicate a location: for instance, if you Own a Sled at your Manor, simply put an 'M' in the Quantity column to indicate the location of your Sled!

I have a Masterwork leather armor. How do I indicate this in the Sheet?

In the Customize worksheet, go to the ARMOR section. Select an Armor Family that your Armor fits in (the Sheet will auto-populate the rest). Edit the data for your particular armor: The Armor Check Penalty would probably be reduced by 1 since it's a Masterwork Armor.

Part of my equipment is on my Horse. How do I note that in the sheet?

Add it to the Mount Worksheet.

I have defined a new Huge Race and I am using a Longbow - I noticed that the range increment is the same as the standard Longbow. Is this normal?

Yes. I decided not to auto-calculate range increment/decrement for these weapons. The book "Savage Species" proposes that for each size increase, the range increment is 25% more, and for size decreases, it's 25% less. In this situation, simply define yourself a New weapon (use a unique name!!) and set the range increment to the proper value!

How do I add new Equipment (gear)?

New Equipment is entered in the Gear Worksheet so that the sheet can "learn" the weight and value of that particular item, or which 'effects' an item has. Once it is defined there, you can also add it to the Gear section of the Back Worksheet and the Weight of this equipment will now be added to the character's total carrying weight!

How do I note the extra spell if I play a Specialist Wizard?

The Full version of the Sheet allows users to customize a Class. This means that if you play a specialist Wizard, you should create a new class and name it according to the school selected: Evoker, Diviner, Necromancer, Illusionist etc... Once your new wizard class is created, you can specify (or redefine!) all aspects of you new class - and increase the Spells per Day accordingly. You might wish to add comments in the "Class Features" to the effect that one of the available spells/level can only be from your selected school. You could also note the schools you gave up and specify the +2 bonus on Spellcraft check to learn new spells from your selected school.

How do I note a spell level increase for my wizard (Due to a Prestige Class)

On the BACK worksheet, in the top right section (Spells) you can indicate the increase in Spells per Day or Spell Known simply by increasing the value in the corresponding box (those values should be two blue '0' just below your caster's class). If you are using the Spell Planner worksheets, you might also need to increase your effective caster level in the "adj." section.

How do I create an EPIC Character?

The Full Version of the Sheet allows characters to exceed level 20. Here is how to create an EPIC character: Epic characters are possible when the TOTAL level of all your classes is exactly 20. Once that total is reached, you cannot raise the 'level' of any class in the 'Level' box of the Sheet. You *must* use the 'Epic' level box [just on the right of the 'Level' box]. There is no limit to the 'Epic' level your character can have. If you try increasing the level of your character beyond 20 without using the 'Epic' box, then you will get an error. Remember that an EPIC character means that the TOTAL levels of all classes is higher than 20 - It doesn't mean that a CLASS is EPIC: to become Epic, a class would need to be higher than 20th level!

How do I access the missing Worksheets?

Simply go to the Control Worksheet, and click on the desired button. Alternatively, use Format->Sheet->Unhide to see them.

How do I add lines in my SPELLBOOK #1 (It's full!)?

If you need more space in SPELLBOOK #1 (for instance) to place spells, simply use SPELLBOOK #2 to continue. You can rename the title SPELLBOOK #2 to the same name if you wish.

Why do I need to use Intelligence Tracking??

Starting at version 6.35, the Sheet uses a tracking system for the Intelligence of your character. This is done because Skill Points gained from the Intelligence modifier should NOT be retroactively added to your total number of Skill Points. Thus, IF your Intelligence Modifier changes because of a Permanent effect (like increasing an ability score at 4th, 8th, 12th ..etc level), the extra Skill Points are gained from now on, and NOT for all previous Levels! If you ever change your Int score so that you have a different Int modifier, you HAVE to tell the sheet about it so it can calculate the exact number of skill points you are entitled to. This can be done on the Customize worksheet. If you start using the Int Tracking, it is very important that you use it for ALL your classes - not just the class that was affected by it. If your character gains a level, you will also need to revisit the Int Tracking to add the level gained in the proper class.

How can I remove the Image in the Stat worksheet to replace by my own?

Select the image by clicking once on it, and press the Delete key.

How do I tell the Sheet I am using a weapon with Special Damage [like Flaming, Bane, Shock, Holy, etc.]?

You have two options: A) you can add this ability to the standard weapons by going into the "Gears" worksheet, and modifying the "Special Damage" for any of the listed weapons or B) If you are customizing a weapon by using the Customize worksheet, simply add the ability in the "Special Damage" section for that new weapon.

Can I move the Image/Picture in the Stats worksheet? I'd like to use both it and the Note section underneath!

Certainly: Once your image is loaded in the Stats worksheet, go to the menu View->Toolbars>-Control Toolbox. This will give you a small window with some buttons in it. Now click on the first button in that window, which says "Design Mode" (it looks like a small blue triangle). That button is a toggle - pressing once enters design mode, while pressing it again exits it. Now while in Design Mode, simply click and drag your image where ever you want it to be. Try a Print Preview to see if the new location will "hide" some text. Note that you can ALSO resize it if you want!! If you "delete" the image and re-create it, the position will return to the upper right.

CUSTOMIZING

While this section focuses on TOS+, many of the information within also apply to TOS FIVE and TOS 2nd PRO edition!

I have a Weapon/Armor/Shield/Equipment which is not in the lists. How do I take this item's weight into account?

You can add these in the Customize worksheet. When you add new items, make sure to fill out all related information.

I created Bracers of Armor +3 for my Monk. Alas, when I equip them, my Monk looses his Wisdom bonus to Armor class. Why is that?

The Sheet follows the rules for the Monk's Armor Class bonus [ref. PHB p40]. Only if a Monk is unarmored AND Unencumbered can he/she get the AC bonus from Wisdom (and the bonus each 5 levels). So if you wish to create bracers, do not use the "Armor" section for this [the sheet has no way to know this type of armor is permissible for a Monk]. Simply note them in your Equipment list (Create a new entry for them on the Customize worksheet). Then, on the Front worksheet, add the needed armor adjustment to your Monk, in the Armor Class (AC) section/Misc.

Can I create a Gestalt character?

Yes, TOS+ supports Gestalt characters. If you need help creating such, you can ask in the Assistance for Gestalts section of the community forum!

How do I create a new Race/Class?

Use the Race worksheet (Ancestries in TOS 2nd) to create a new race. Use the Class worksheet to create a new class.

My non-Humanoid race with Class Levels has an incorrect number of HD! What gives?

TOS+ follows the rule clarification that 1HD humanoids that gain a Class Level, loose its racial HD AND that non-humanoids get to keep it. You can change this behavior if you wish. Check this section for more details.

SKILLS

This section focuses on TOS+.

When I fill out the Ranks for my Skills, I get an Error "Maximum Skill Rank Exceeded!" - What gives?!

The maximum Rank you can have for Class Skills (totaling all classes) is your Character Level +3. For Multi-Class characters, if one of the classes has the skill as a Class-Skill, then all ranks are compared to the Class-Skill to determine the maximum Rank (PHB P.59)

I have enough Rank in a Skill to gain a synergy bonus on another Skill - How do I note this?

You don't!! All skill synergies are automatically integrated!

I am using a Psicrystal - Do I need to enter the bonus my Character receives from it?

All Psicrystal bonuses have been integrated in the Sheet. Just select your Psicrystal, and your Character will automatically receive the associated bonus.

FEATS

This section focuses on TOS+.

How do I define the weapons I use with "Weapon Focus" or "Improved Critical" feat?

You need to go to the Customize Worksheet and simply enter your desired weapon (it can even be a custom weapon) into the appropriate [yellow] area. From now on, a feat with your weapon's name will be made available in the Feats you can select in the Back worksheet.

Can the Sheet handle the two-weapon fighting and the improved/greater/perfect two-weapon fighting feats?

ALL the two-weapon fighting feats have been totally integrated in TOS+. As long as the fighting modes are set for the first two Attack sections [set them to "two-weapons (primary)" and "two-weapons (off-hand)" respectively], then the total attack will show added attacks for the off-hand weapon - AND all penalties for two-weapon combat & weapon sizes will be taken into account.

Is the Flurry of Blows available?

Flurry of Blows has been integrated for Monks. In any attack section, you can select a checkbox just above the "total attack/damage" - If your character has Monk levels, then he/she will get more attacks, adjusted by the Flurry of Blows penalty. For the weapon, select "Unarmed Strike" if you want your Monk to use his fists in combat - and get the unarmed damage dice (the Sheet will calculate the appropriate damage dice as per your monk level) - you can also use other Monk weapons instead of your fists.

How do I tell the sheet to use the Weapon Finesse feat for my Rapier?

The Weapon Finesse feat has been integrated in the Sheet. This means that if you take that feat, the Sheet will automatically use it if your DEX modifier is higher than your STR modifier - assuming the weapon itself CAN profit from Weapon Finesse. When the Sheet uses the Weapon Finesse feat for a particular weapon, you will see the words "weapon finesse" in the title of the "total attack/damage" - just above the number of attacks. This will allow you to confirm that the Sheet is using the Weapon Finesse feat (assuming your DEX modifier is higher than your STR modifier). Note that you can also customize weapons to USE the Weapon Finesse feat.

Does the Sheet verifies Feat Prerequisites?

Yes, as an option that can be turned On/Off in the Customize Worksheet.

Seems you can give a character MORE feats than is allowed - what gives?

By design, the sheet does NOT limit the number of feats a character can have - you can actually put more than you're entitled to - I prefer to keep that aspect versatile (Note that you can input comments in the Feat section!)

PSIONICS

This section focuses on TOS+.

Can I use 3 Psionic classes?

TOS+ was designed to support 2 manifesting classes

If I select a Psion, where can I also select his Discipline?

Just under the Psion class, the word "Discipline" is written: Simply click on the right of that word to get a list of available Disciplines.

And if I select my Psion's Discipline, will the sheet take into account which Skills are class skills?

Yes it will - the selection of the Discipline will automatically adjust the skills to make them Class Skills!!
